Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
The O's are crazy if they're going to give up Gausman or Bundy for a half season of Lester. Were those names actually on the table, or what the Sox are asking for? Could see them parting with Rodriguez, maybe Harvey. I guess it just depends on how desperate they are.
Also, with the Cubs acquiring Doubront, could we see an E-Jax move? Hendricks and Wada haven't pitched poorly, plus we have Straily. Maybe I'm just overthinking this and it's just a move for some depth.

Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
I really wouldn't worry too much. Ramsey was never going to see the ML roster and we get a guy that strikes out nearly a batter per inning and also has a ~60% groundball rate. The Indians have the 2nd worst defensive team in the league and we have one of the best defensive infields in all of baseball.
Even if Masterson is average for the rest of the year, we still get a guy that will eat innings for a 24 year old OF that is already behind Grichuk, Piscotty, Taveras, Craig, Jay, Bourjos and Holliday.
I love the trade as I'm a fan of Masterson's. And honestly, how often has Mo made a trade that seemed like nothing, help us make a deep playoff push?
Edit: Actually the Indians are by far the worst defensive team in the league (in regards to DRS).
Yes Masterson was brilliant last year, but this year, he's stinking up the place.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
I don't think that's the case however. Really the only better options out there are Price/Lester/Hamels. And the three of those would cost much much more than Ramsey. It's easy to say we should've gotten a better return but the fact of the matter is that there aren't better options that we could've gotten for Ramsey plus another guy.MLB: St. Louis Cardinals

I don't really understand the deal for Doubront, from the Cubs perspective. My only guess is that they'll move Edwin Jackson to the pen to make room for Doubront in the rotation?Comment

Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
I would guess Jackson is dealt before we stick him in the pen.
Doubront probably ends up in AAA. I'm pretty sure I read that he was unhappy in the pen in BOS. We're just taking a flyer on him, and it's not going to cost us much at all. The PTBNL will be settled after the Rule 5 draft.Comment

I'm very interested to see what Bonifacio nets as he's been on a tear since returning from the DL.Comment
