    Re: Mets rumors

Armitage - Yes I believe the Mets could reverse the trade. It happened to the Pirates last year with a trade to Boston. The guy coming from Boston was injured and the trade was reversed. That was over a year ago so the circumstances are a little fuzzy.

If it helps, Peter Gammons is reporting that Tom Glavine's agent is also Benson's agent and the Mets believe that will help to re-sign him. I still think he'll go to ATL, but that's just me. He also said that Rick Peterson should be able to help Zambrano's wildness and could really get both Benson and Zambrano to reach their potential. Take it for what it's worth....

Armitage - No you're correct about Benson moving his family and house to ATL already. I posted that and it's been widely spread on the news here in PGH. He moved them a few weeks ago preparing for a trade. ATL is also where Benson grew up.

I was surprised with the prospects being thrown around as well. You actually got a good middle infielder in Keppinger. The Pirates let Jose Bautista go in the Rule 5 draft and have been wanting to get him back. I think that had a lot to do the Mets giving up Huber. I'm not sure it was a good move though..

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

As for Zambrano.. the Mets gave up far, far too much for a pitcher that can't find the plate with elbow problems too(I'm starting to hear Zambrano has a bum elbow now, so again, please correct me if I'm wrong.) I would've given up Ginter or maybe Seo straight up for him, not much more than that. These deals were panic deals, something I think Steinbrenner/Cashman would've done if Steinbrenner fancied Benson or Zambrano. Cashman, though is far more intelligent in my mind than Duquette is

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I believe that Zambrano has shoulder tendinitous. The Mets aren't sure when he will be ready to start. Benson on the other hand is going to start tommarrow against Atlanta. It will be his third consecutive outing versus the Braves.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Could they reverse the trade if it's deemed that he's unable to play? I most certainly hope so..

Besides, with the Mets loss tonight.. I just think these two deals are nothing more than a waste.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I not really sure at all about reversing the trade. I was under the impression that you can reverse the trade only if you didn't know before hand that the player was hurt. I would assume that Duquette knew that Zambrano was not 100% and would have a tough time getting this one reversed. I'm not sure but this is what I thought it was.

Mets ownership may be even worser than the Pre-Isiah Knicks management. At least Knicks' owner, James Dolan, wasn't and isn't cheap! Geez, you couldn't package a deal surrounding Kazmir and gotten better value in return. Offer it to Texas or something. As for Floyd, why wouldn't you want to trade him if the right offer came along? The guy is talking about retiring soon..like in 2 years I believe he said.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
          - Lavar Arrington on his new Redskins teammate Sean Taylor.

              Re: Mets rumors

What seems to have gone under the radar here is that the Royals got a steal in this deal with Justin Huber. Huber, who was hitting .313 at AAA (hit .271 at AA), will likely go in to spring training next season as the Royals starting Catcher and all it cost them was the so far very dissapointing Jose Bautista.

Good move for Allard Baird and the Royals, bad move for Jim Duquette and the Mets.

The Royals also got John Buck from Houston in the Beltran trade. So they now have 2 of the better catching prospects in baseball.

This finally proves that Wilpon has absolutely no clue as to how to run a team -- Kazmir for Zambrano???? what is he thinking?? The Benson deal was good &amp; can live w/ that.. but no way do you trade a prospect like Kazmir for a pitcher like Zambrano - Carlos yes, Victor no...

                      well lets recap the mistakes:

Cone to Toronto - get back Kent &amp; Thompson.. Kent after a few years goes to Cleveland for.. CARLOS BAERGA.. he stinks up the place..

Then we a) dont sign A-Rod
                      b) sign Alomar (a bust)
                      c) pass on Guerrero on his "bad back"..

Apparentky the GM of the D-Rays has also said Kazmir will be up in sept.

Can we trade Wilpon for Steinbrenner???

From what I've read about Zambrano in the St. Pete Times paper its a sore elbow. It sounded like it was just tender and Pinella didnt think it was too serious, just may cause him to miss a start. I havent heard anything about shoulder tendanitis with Zambrano. Armitage, youre sounding like DRay fans in the last few months. Zambrano has great stuff, its just he has a HUGE problem locating the strike zone. Pinella was furious with him because he has a fetish with full counts and falling behind in counts which leads to him being taken out early in the game because hes over 100 pitches in the 5th or 6th inning. He has the stuff to work out of the jams he gets himself in, but on nights he doesnt he gets shelled. For the DRays to get Kazmir for him is an absolute steal and I'm loving Lamar for this move right now.
