Im sure this is a morale boost for the Sox, but Im not sure how much its going to help. They are on a tear right now, and they have to keep it up if they want to top the Yanks. I know they wont lay down and die after this one.

all i know is until the yanks do something in the playoffs im not worried about them. whens the last time they won it? 00? i think they get a little bit too much credit about being the team to beat. they have got to the WS twice in that span but lost both times so yes the Sox hasn't been able to beat them but hell they might not even play em in the playoffs they might be gone b4 they have to play them.

How can you not be the team to beat when the Yankees have been in 2 of the past three World Series' (6 of the last 7).

Yea, they haven't won in their last two trips, but six of the last seven still means someone had to beat them to get there. Don't forget, the Angels had to beat the Yankees before they played the Twins and the Giants in their championship run.

I'm not trying to be biased or anything, but the championship has gone through New York in 7 straight years.

as many others they see 22-0 and they feel the run is over

as last year, they saw no hitter, thought the run was over, couple months later another pennant

look at the other teams who have spent like mad, the last few seasons...they accomplished nothing

you need a good manager and quality players

well, it is september, and everybody who is out, jumps right on the "i hate the yankees" bandwagon

The Yankees have a payroll almost 100 million dollars greater than about 25 teams in the league.

Yes, the Yankees haven't won a championship since Georgy went on a spending spree, but the money has helped the Yankees remain competitive and as I said, be able to play in 6 of the last 7 World Series'.

It's funny you say your not a Yankee fan, yet you seem to be doing an awful lot of Yankee nut hugging in this thread.

Being a Sox fan, this was awesome to see. I love how most Yankee fans just discount it as "nothing big", and that they still have a comfortable lead. Losing 22-0 is embarassing, no matter who you are. The Sox have come from being 10 1/2 games out to 3 1/2, and you guys still say it doesn't matter. I'll be the first to admit the Red Sox haven't got it done in the playoffs against the Yankees, but you never know when it could happen, considering how close we were last year. Thing that helps us this year is that our pitching is LIGHT YEARS better than the Yankees, which is what you need in the postseason.
