Matt Wisler: Keep it coming, buddy.

Our pitching has been pretty good lately (Shelby gave up 2 hits and 1 run and still lost yesterday) but our offense has been abismal. John Hart needs to get busy bringing in some position players.

Red Sox go off on Sunday Night Baseball. Beat the Tigers 11-1. E-Rod great start tonight. Big Papi hits 2 HR's and has a career high 7 RBI. Napoli showing signs of life at the perfect time. Bogaerts go 4-5. Not a bad night all-around.

Has DeGrom had TJS? The finish on his delivery and how he throws seems to put a lot of force on that elbow.

He had TJS in 2010 I believe.

Pujols was the most shifted-against RHB in 2013 and 2014. And his BABIPs for those seasons were .258 and .265. It's .224 this year.

There's no question that the shift is hurting him.

Zunino is hitting north of .250 since Edgar became the hitting coach. And went 3-4 today and the out was him getting robbed of a HR. So he's showing signs of life as of late.

That doesn't make sense. If he was the most shifted against hitter the last two years but his BABIP is significantly lower this year than those 2 years, how could it be the shifts that are causing it?

You're just not gonna mention that tonight alone, Ortiz passed Killebrew, Kaline, and Hornsby on the all-time RBI list?

It makes plenty of sense compared to the career .299 BABIP he's sported. And since defensive shifts keep going exponentially up, it's not a huge surprise it's fallen again.

It's not too hard to draw a straight line from the number of times he's shifted against and his decline in batting average. Not the only factor, but a huge one.

Pujols hitting a ton of home runs this year has also hurt his BABIP, but yeah, when you're an extreme pull hitter hitting well below your career BABIP, you can pretty much blame shifting.

The same thing is happening to David Ortiz and Mark Teixeira. The modern-day shift is really hurting pull hitters.
