I see what you're saying now. You weren't comparing this year to the two previous years, but all 3 years to his career average (which wasn't mentioned in the first post). Makes sense with that added

Pujols was the most shifted-against RHB in 2013 and 2014. And his BABIPs for those seasons were .258 and .265. It's .224 this year.

There's no question that the shift is hurting him.
Out of curiosity, are you a proponent of eliminating the shift (kind of like NBA does with illegal defense)?

Didn't realize that and don't really care. I just want him to get his 500 HR's and then GTFO. To give Hanley the DH spot so I don't see his piss poor D in the easiest position in baseball besides DH.

          No.

It's not a big reason why run scoring is down. Hitters are just going to have to learn how to bunt and use all fields if they want to beat the shift. I think you'll eventually see an equilibrium and the shift craze will die down.

I don't like seeing defensive ingenuity punished just because players of a certain type aren't capable of making adjustments.

A major league player should be able to go the other way. I'm all for shifting.

Question: Should MLB impose a rule against extreme shifts.

I'm actually surprised...I figured you'd have gone the other way.

Personally, I wouldn't hate it if MLB proposed a (no more than 2 IFs to one side of the diamond) rule. I still don't think there would be that much of a variance though.

The Cubs are scoring runs. Arenado might get charged with 2 errors in this inning alone. In 30 minutes I expect to see pigs flying outside my window.

I wouldn't care if a team put 6 defenders on the same side lol, I'd love it actually.

Just like when dudes get mad about a player bunting against a shift. That's your problem, if you get smart and take away the main areas a player hits to, and that player responds by taking advantage of the weak areas opened by the shift, all the power to 'em.

                        Sigh. <url>

Jace Peterson needs to figure out how NOT to hit routine grounders to 2B.

Oh! Awesome SP performance again with nearly 0 support.

Luis Avilan pisses me off...I know other Braves fans like the guy, but he does nothing well and is very inconsistent. Still don't understand why he is in the bigs...

Cubs are trying to blow the win.

7-4 lead in the 9th, Motte gives up HR, single, double.

Soriano in gives up a RBI FC. 7-6 runner on 3rd 1 out

And CarGo hits his 2nd HR of the game and now lead 8-7.
