JD Martinez 467 ft HR to straight center, just destroyed it.

Strange thing is they said earlier in the year Detroit doesn't release HR distance estimates when Cabrera hit one near the same spot by the camera well

Dodgers' relief pitcher, in his first plate appearance in 12 years, drills the first pitch for a ground-rule double.

A prospect guy I read made a Yasmani Grandal comparison. That implies he's a good pitch framer and I don't know enough about his game to know if that's true.

Really? Everything i've heard is that he's an A++ hitter but his defense behind the plate is a bit suspect. Most people think that if the Cubs weren't so loaded he'd be a better fit playing in the INF.

...just like Yasmani Grandal, who is pretty terrible controlling the running game and blocking pitches. He frames and hits though.

Ah, I had an understanding that he was better defensively. Well then I guess they do compare favorably to one another. It's interesting how pitch framing is the one thing that's saving some of these suspect catchers from going out into the field or becoming young DH types.

Maybe if Minaya was still GM.

Nice big league debut for Aaron Nola tonight. 6 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Gave up a solo home run to Nathan Karns. Won't be getting the win though. Phils down 1-0 in the 8th.
