The MLB rulebook is posted in it's entirety on mlb.com. It's not really top secret info that only certain people get (like the style guide lol), I go to it quite often.

Kershaw was doing the perfect game thing again before Michael Taylor broke it up in the 6th with a double.

So after researching, it looks like the ball became dead and the runner on 1st was awarded a base when Rizzo caught the ball and "fell" into the stands.

So there is no rule about throwing from out of play, because once you land out of play, the ball is dead and the runner on base is awarded 1 base.

Yep. They even commented a few minutes later about how awful it would be to lose a game on a play like that. Winning run on 3rd, less than 2 out, if this play happens it is a loss for the team in the field.

I could've sworn I've seen guys catch a ball and fall into the dugout with runners on and the runners never advanced. But maybe not.

Yea I think I have seen that happen before as well. And when I did some game this summer, that was something at one of our local fields it's surrounded by woods, a practice soccer field and another Little League diamond. And that was the rule we had. You had to the catch ball before the line, then could enter dead ball territory, then had to run back in, in order to throw the ball.

Me too, since you've posted that I've been trying to find examples lol. That rule does not make sense to me (though I get what they were going for by putting it in).

Crazy to think no other team has ever done that since, given how good some teams have been. Specifically Yankees during their dominant years.

Jays now going for franchise high 11th straight win(which would tie record) and imagine going for 12 vs Yankees on Friday at a sold out Rogers Centre with Price pitching!

SO it apparently has been a rule for quite some time:

Falling into a dugout could however fall into it's own category.

One rule that I guess has been around forever is that you can't actually run into the stands? I've always wanted to see some guy just hop the wall and run up a few steps and catch a high fly ball in foul territory.

You have to be in play when you catch the ball.

Jays fans, there's a lot of baseball left.

                          As for the Yanks:

Ya, and hopefully fans can enjoy it! Too many times in Toronto sports teams histories do they do great and then just collapse. Collapsing has become synonymous with Toronto sports teams. I always call them the Canadian Cleveland lol.

But with Royals breaking their slump last year and now seeing just how rejuvenated their fanbase is, will be great to see same thing to Jays fanbase. We might actually be talking about baseball over hockey in October!?!
