Series vs yankees, soldout! Jays head into it with division lead. Worst scenario is being 2.5 back after series, best scenario is 4.5 ahead! How big of a series!

This was bound to happen eventually. Frankly I'm shocked it hasn't happened all year (to this extreme).

How can you trust this guy in a possible playoffs? 4 stolen bases this inning guys not even threatened by Lester.

because those steals tend to usually not lead to runs because he is a very good pitcher.

He may get away with it in the regular season but in the playoffs...Well we saw what the Royals did to him. Something like that is bound to happen again.

This is not a new thing. He had this in BOS. I'm not saying it's not an issue but in a must win game with Him I'll certainly take my chances.

in the Royals game he just didn't pitch well also i think that's the bigger thing than the SB's.

Well, it helps when they get over-aggressive like Segura just did trying to get to third.

True, this was no secret but I think in the past opposing teams lived up to the code whereas the Royals were looking for ways to ratchet up the pressure and get themselves back into that game and went hog wild.

For a lefty, it's incredible. You can see how the whole "I won't throw over to 1st base" phenomenon is hurting him too.

Jon Lester pickoff attempts by season:

                      2009: 79
                      2010: 98
                      2011: 70
                      2012: 5
                      2013: 7
                      2014: 0
                      2015: 2

                      Left-on-base wins from 2006-2011: 7.0
                      LOB wins from 2012-present: 0.1

He used to be an excellent runner strander. Now that guys are swiping bags left-and-right, more runs are coming across the plate.

Not sure if you're aware but he has a pretty good postseason track record already.

I know that but were teams stealing bags like there's no tomorrow prior to the Royals WC game?

The A's also had throwing-impaired Derek Norris catching for them too in the WC game, right?

Lester's obviously still a really good pitcher, but 2 pickoff attempts for a lefty since 2014? Weird.

                              School time!

How is LOB wins calculated? Sounds like an interesting statistic with regard to how pitchers execute with guys on base.
