Len and JD think that he's done. I think Ventura lets him go out in the 8th and checks the pitch count after that.

In my opinion, he's been so dominant and the Cubs have been so hot lately, that 6 outs is too much to ask of that bullpen. I think it would be a mistake to remove him now. I'd leave Sale in for the 8th and, yes, possibly the 9th depending on how quickly he navigates the 8th.

EDIT: Len and JD were right. Here comes Nate Jones.

Okay.... Position player pitching to a pitcher in an AL game.

          Edit: And he walked him.

Position player Ike Davis pitching to pitcher Jason Garcia in an AL game.

It's been a perfect storm. No sane Cubs fan would've expected Sale v. Haren to go well. Then Sale was extra dominant. Sprinkle in the home plate ump (ahem, D.J. Reyburn) being a bit weak and inconsistent on his corners and it's been a big struggle. To be fair to D.J. Reyburn, though, calling a Chris Sale game has to be next to impossible with his movement/velocity. I don't think we've seen a lefty with stuff this nasty since the Big Unit (my apologies to Clayton Kershaw, who does it less on sheer stuff than Sale does).

At least the A's season ended early this year, without the usual postseason pain from an AL Central team.

This is the definition of playing out the string. I'm okay with it. Baseball humbles everyone at some point.

Happy that the Pirates are winning of course, but what got into the Mets late in the game?

Puig just doesn't get this whole "baserunning" thing. I'm glad I won't have to deal with that after this season.

Judging by his dugout demeanor the past few games, I think he realizes he's on his way out too.

Last I saw it wasa 8-7 bottom 9 with The Cyborg aka Big Papi at bat. Who won? And you were right Owens probably did pitch alright. I saw his whole stat line was something like 6 IP 10 H 7 R 10 Ks.
