Reds and Royals discussed a trade involving Todd Frazier. Apparently if the Royals acquire Frazier they'll play him in LF.

Add the Angels to the list of finalists for Heyward. ESPN’s Jayson Stark hears that Heyward isn’t looking for a 10-year deal in the $200MM range as has oft been speculated, but rather something more like eight or nine years at $24MM per season.

      8 years= 192MM
      9 years= 216MM

yikes. The AL Central has their work cut out for them if that's the case.

Not a fan of Yunel Escobar. Not sure it was a good idea for the Angels to trade Gott for him.

It wasn't. In this market however that's what they needed to trade to get a versatile guy.

              Add the Nationals as well.

Heyward also has a $200 mil offer in hand.

The Nationals appear to be the frontrunner for Jason Heyward according to ESPN.

So dumb. They need to save every penny they have to at least TRY to keep the best player in the NL and not waste it on an overpriced bust.

Or they don't think they'll be able to keep Harper and want an alternative.

Not that I have much idea of why you'd call Heyward an overpriced bust.

Bust? Hold your horses there, probably the best defensive right fielder in the game, and a pretty solid number two hitter is no bust. Is he worth 200 million dollars? Nobody is, but he is a damn good ball player.

If the bidding is that rich, I seriously hope the Cubs bow out quietly. Heyward is a bit too risky from an offensive standpoint to get $200MM. No thanks. Perfectly happy with Span or Fowler or a trade for Inciarte...

A 6'5" 250 lb. lefty hitting corner outfielder with a draft/prospect pedigree like his that has zero power (sub .400 SLG twice) is a bust to me. Especially when we're discussing 200 million dollar contracts. Plays great defense and is a good base runner? Sure. But he's still an offensive bust. This guy was so overhyped as a 30-40 HR guy and he'll NEVER be that type of player in his wildest dreams. Never even had more than 33 doubles in a year. Youngsters are still blinded by his debut game but it's been all downhill since at the plate. He has value, yeah, but for what he costs I think he sucks. Right field defense isn't center field, shortstop or catcher defense.

I know I'm in the minority here, but this dude just isn't worth it.

Phillies sign Ernesto Frieri to a minor league deal.

Christian Bethancourt to the Padres for Casey Kelly and Ricardo Rodriguez.

Who how have the graces have fallen?

Bethancourt former top catching prospect and Kelly the centerpiece of the Adrian Gonzalez to Boston trade.
