LOL. I hope not. Where is this rumor from? I could see 7 and 190 (although 7 and 175 would be more fair, imo). Touching $32MM annually for Heyward would be looney.

I'm guessing Soler will be traded and Heyward will be in right. And then sign Span, Fowler, or someone like that.

        I like the signing, personally.

Weird feeling that the Cubs will almost certainly be picked to win the World Series by everyone, including Vegas. Weirder yet that they might actually be right about it.

So 55 was right. It sounds like Heyward signed on to play CF.

Soler for Carrasco or Salazar is something I could totally see.

Hammel faded down the stretch, but he actually had a really good year for a #3. Amazing K-BB rates and a slightly elevated HR-rate. 2.4 fWAR is a steal for what he's making in this crazy, crazy market.
My only concern is that it's the 2nd straight year he was awful after the ASB. He's proven to be a fantastic 1st half pitcher, but he needs to figure out the 2nd half struggles.

And with Lackey Signing Hammel is now a 4 or 5 with Wood, Warren and Cahill as backup options. I don't think Cubs trading Soler is 100% lock but Cubs still have options.

                    Great offseason.

For what it's worth, Wittenmeyer is reporting Heyward got 8 years, less than $185 million.

That's more like it. The 6 and 190 was laughable.

Lot of money for a guy who isn't an elite run producer, but hard to argue with the hitting, speed and defense. Maybe the power will start to show itself again at some point.

I hope Lackey and Heyward pay off with a Championship, because they're two of my least favorite baseball players. I'm gonna turn on them very quickly if they don't produce.
