You didn't really miss out on Beachy. He was horrible for the Dodgers last season and was released 3 weeks ago.

Pirates non tendered their 2015 HR leader. Can't imagine that's ever happened before.

Astros non-tendered Chris Carter. He's hit more homeruns the last 3 season's than any other player.

Pedro Alvarez will be picked up quickly. Someone will take a chance. Change of scenery might help him.

I don't see any upside in Alvarez beyond being a spot starter against a righty or a good bench bat.

          No defense.
          Low contact rate.
          Average BB rate.
          Good power.

An AL team will pick him up for the DH spot.

Yea he'll be grabbed pretty quick on a 1 year contract by an AL team. Not a whole lot to lose.

All the interviews I've seen of him paints him as a decent guy, but they had to do it. Even with the HR shots, too many strike outs and a liability at first or third. Hopefully they'll call up Bell early.

Don't need defense in the AL.
                  No doubt, low contact rate.
30th in the NL in walks (with limited at bats compared to those above him). Not sure you've watched him much, his eye was never an issue.
Good power for sure. Good for a DH role.

One negative you didn't mention though that is important is his stuggles against LHP BUT the caveat to that is Hurdle just didn't give him chances against LHP.

He'll do well in a platoon DH role for some team.

Rays acquire Hank Conger from the Astros for cash.

                      Padres non-tendered Will Middlebrooks.

Precisely because he had fewer PA than most the best way to look at it is with BB rate. Alvarez's 9.8 BB% was 18th in the NL and tied for 42th overall among players with at least 450 PA. League average was 7.7%

Mariners need a 1B, but DiPoto obviously is building around defense and speed, so nah.

                            Braves sign Gordon Beckham to a 1 yr/1.25M deal...such a Barves type of deal...blah.
