Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
He's pretty much a guaranteed 5.0 WAR player every year that can do everything besides pitch or catch. He also gets on base at an extremely high level for a middle infielder. Plays solid defense, etc. Plus, Maddon obviously knows how to use him. What's not to like?
He is a MUCH better offensive player than Heyward.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I kind of feel bad that I look at everything through my fantasy teams looking glass. I like Miller to the D-backs, worse park but much better team so he might get me some nice wins. Plus D-backs SS is supposedly a very good fielder so hopefully not a huge drop off from Simmons.
As for Castro, I need a blipping Shortstop (he still has eligibility) but I don't to strap my team with his salary. Gonna have to him, god dammit, I can't even enjoy having my teams real life players on my fantasy teamOSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

It's coming from an Arizona Republic Beat Writer. Also I agree with this tweet @NEPD_Loyko that's a TON for miller, might as well go all in on Fernandez if they discussing those playersComment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I don't care who reports it. Until this is done I don't believe it. I wouldn't have traded Miller for one of those guys.
This is worse than the Dickey trade, the Upton trade, both Kimbrel trades, the Simmons trades, and maybe even the Kemp trade (but probably not)."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Scouting Report on Swanson from MLB.com.
SpoilerScouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 60
Swanson's Vanderbilt career started slowly, but he was the Most Outstanding Player in the 2014 College World Series, then helped the Commodores get back to the championship series again in 2015 en route to becoming the No. 1 pick in the Draft. He signed right at the deadline for the highest bonus in the class, $6.5 million, still well below the assigned pick value.
The top college position player in the Draft class, Swanson moved from second base to shortstop for his junior season and showed everyone he can stay there. Most scouts believe he has the quickness and arm strength to stay at the position long-term, even though he hadn't played there since he was a Georgia high schooler in 2012, when the Rockies drafted him in the 38th round.
Swanson is a technically sound hitter who fits at the top of his lineup with his on-base ability and speed. He showed as a junior that there might be Major League average power in his bat as well. His makeup is off the charts and universally praised by coaches and scouts.Comment
