Whoever they are, they will be all over TV & Radio this week. Which was probably their plan all along.

No they won't. The people who didn't vote for Maddux last year didn't come and say anything and I feel the same for the JR people will do the same.

I think it is obvious that inside the next decade a player will be voted in unanimously. God forbid if Jeter is the 1st one, all the bull**** we would be subjected to.

Also, not a Mets fan, but this was something else to watch as a 9 year old in the 4th grade:

As I said in the MLB thread, those 3 voters have there voting rights revoked

If it was done strategically I don't mind it. I bet even if it wasn't, and they reveal themselves, they most likely will claim it was done for strategic purposes.

Who would leave Rickey Henderson off? It's happened to better players than Griffey.

Who would leave Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron? It happens to everyone. I'm not surprised he wasn't unanimous. And TBH I'm happy he isn't, right now. In a couple of years when it's Jeter that ultimately gets it. I won't be happy. But that's for a different thread.

I honestly thought Raines would get in based on the public votes that were online. It looks like he and Bagwell have a good shot next year though the ballot is full of deserving first timers but no one that screams 1st ballot. The biggest first timers next year are Pudge, Manny, Vladdy, and Posada.

Because there are troglodytes who take the view that since the greatest of all-time wasn't unanimous, no one should be.

Every year, people think legendary Player X will be the first unanimous selection and every year, a handful of jokers submit blank ballots in the name of pious gatekeeping.

The only I could see a case for is Pudge. But he's not gonna get it. If Manny didn't fail and was like Bagwell/Piazza he would get in at some point. But he's not going to get in.

Also love this: David Eckstein, Jason Kendall, Garret Anderson and Mike Sweeney got 8 votes between them.

Really, the only way I see people leaving Griffey off is if they "saw him as a shoo-in" and went toward using their ten votes toward other guys that needed the push more. If they left him off with less than ten votes, that's just cruel.

Then again, I say the same thing for Bonds. I know why he's not being voted in, but even still...

I'm surprised it was that many. When writers only get ten votes, you can't just put these people over any other ten guys on that list without making it look like a joke.

David Eckstein, though... my favorite article of all time about him. So freakin' hilarious. It's really an article about an article about David Eckstein.
