If the latter, meesa thinks the number to vote for should fluctuate all depending on that number. If there were 100 players to choose from instead of like 20, I think that would be pretty cruel to only limit the vote to ten players.

That's an extreme example, but you get what I'm saying.
Yes it fluctuates year to year. And I like the limit of 10. It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Very Good. Hell I couldn't even give you 10 guys on a single ballot from a recent year that I would give a vote to.

There should be no limit, specially now that the voting is under extreme circumstances (a bottleneck because of all the PED guys that don't get in but stay on the ballot year after year) and there should be no limit period.

Voters should be allowed to vote for all deserving candidates, whether that's 10, 15 or 1 candidate on any given year. If anything drop the limit of 10 and up the minimum % to stay on the ballot to 10% (currently it is 5%) but I would prefer to simply do away with 10 player limit.

My point is that what if every player who is currently a member of the Hall of Fame all retired within a ten year span of one another? It would be very unfortunate if the loot of them were not only "snubbed," but withdrawn from candidacy the year after if they weren't voted on only because others were selected in the writers' pool of ten players.

10 is an arbitrary value, no different than 11 or 9 except it "looks pretty." Giving a list of 20 members versus 100 members and saying, "Ten is our number" is pure stubbornness. And I'm not saying increase the voting amount to 90, or 50 or anything like that. Maybe to 15 at that point, though? It's not too far-fetched... and that's speaking with 100 players, probably just a massive amount that would never be had. I think a logarithmic formula to fluctuate with 10 as a baseline value is not an asinine thought whatsoever, especially when you're not required to choose the same amount of votes as you're given.

It's sad to see Jim Edmonds one and done on the ballot.

Regarding Larry Walker, one of the things that's hurting him a lot is that he doesn't have people lobbying for him. Hell, he doesn't even do the self promotion thing himself. (good on him) He was asked by Jeff Blair recently to come on his show to talk about the HOF and Larry basically said he didn't want to come on to pump his tires and make himself look good. The man is way too humble.

I think he definitely should be a HOFer not just for the numbers but if you look at one of the criteria of sportsmanship and what one brings to the game you got to at least point to the fact that Larry Walker is the guy that put Canada on the map in regards to baseball again and he was at the vanguard of players from Canada coming into the majors in decent numbers. He also plays a big hand in Baseball Canada as one of the coaches of Team Canada both the regular national team and the WBC teams.

I'm like the idea. I know it goes against the grain, but it just seems right for Griffey...and as I've been saying, I'm completely BIASED on this topic. Completely biased!

Hell, Griffey is probably somehow subconsciously the reason I'm wearing my hat backwards right now.

But then again, I'm all for against the grain. I think Bryce Harper is Jesus and I secretly want there to be a bat flip contest at the All-Star Game.

                      Why not SPTO? It's iconic.

By the way...the very first thing I think of with Junior (even have the bobblehead of it!) is the '95 ALDS. The exuberance with his head popping out in excitement after the slide still make smile. I think perhaps only Heyward can look this good running the bases.

Oh! And...for the record...it was because of Edgar he scored the winning run.

Does Griffey actually want his plaque to have a backwards hat? Or did someone just call up the HoF and ask if they'd allow it? I'd be a little surprised if he wants that.

I just don't like something THAT different on a plaque considering everyone else has their cap on the "right way" that being said, thinking on it some more Griffey is the only guy who could get away with that.

BTW that moment you posted about Griffey, that's also the first thing I think of when I hear "Ken Griffey Jr"....Okay, and the SNES video game which I played the crap out of back in the day.

BTW SPTO is short for SportsmanTO which was my original nickname. I decided to shorten it.

I think someone just asked the Hall president and he said it was fine with him.

In all reality, he'll have a normal plaque with a Mariners cap.

At this point, the only question is which one?

Their road jersey is by far my favorite of theirs.

Call me silly, I also liked the black uniforms when they first moved into Safeco.

Of course, this is about their cap, so the one that goes with that (the "normal" one?) is fine for me.
