Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
I'm still damn curious to see what the Yankees pulled from the Pirates for Nova. And what a hell of a haul for the Jays.

I think Puig means well, but he definitely needs to mature. He just doesn't make good decisions.

Can he really mean well after acting like a spoiled brat on so many occasions? Dude is 25, at some point the maturity card becomes a non-starter.Comment

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
I'll miss him, he's been the soul of the A's for a couple years and possibly the biggest personality since Giambi.
I wish him the best in LA. Read from SS he really wanted to stay in Oakland but they were just too far apart on a long term agreement. It's a shame reading Forst's great thoughts about him.Comment

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
1) The are really trying to get out of Liriano's $13.67M salary next season.
2) They must really like Hutchison in the NL as the next Ray Searage reclamation project.
3) They must not like Ramirez and McGuire all that much.
4) ?!????!
It's a bit of a head-scratcher even with all of those points.
Couldn't they at least have gone all in and dealt Cutch/Marte/Polanco?!! Now they're still going to be a little challenging for the Cubs to beat 6 more times!Chicago Cubs

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
I guess they figured out they couldn't count on winning it all just because its an even year.
Not to mention only being 4.0 GB in the WC chase, making a curious acquisition for Ivan Nova--possibly showing they regretted trading Melancon, only to deal Liriano....and two prospects for a pitcher with a 4.92 ERA and a 4.23 FIP.

They're not trading Marte or Polanco, McCutchen was a strong possibility but with his down year the return probably wasn't there.Comment

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
Yea the Pirates move confounds me, why trade Liriano, and pick up Nova. Seems redundant, and the loss of prospects.

Matt Moore should benefit from the AL East-to-NL West transition, but Matt Duffy plus interesting prospects is a pretty steep price to pay.I write things on the Internet.
