I didn't hear this while watching, but Carl Edwards Jr. was called up to the Cubs last night.

They optioned Adam Warren to AAA, placed Clayton Richard on the DL, and called up Spencer Patton and another reliever whose name I cannot remember right now.

Sigh Buchholz, wish we could've walked it off last night with the bases loaded and zero outs but no. Now we will be down 0-2 in this 4 game set unless the offense goes off.

According to Cubs dot com, it's lefty Gerardo Concepcion who also got the call. Interesting that the former IFA has come so far; things seemed to sort of click this year. He was maligned a few years back for being awful in his first taste of pro ball in the States. I doubt he has more than a cup of coffee up here.

Should also mention Fowler to the DL was what sort of set off this cascade of roster moves.

Cubs getting a little too good at losing 1 run games to STL. I mean a double digit division lead is nice, but let's keep it that way, huh?

9-11 in one run games - one of the few spots of concern for this team.

And, unfortunately, it's one that could come back to bite pretty hard in October. Hard to blow teams out in the postseason consistently.

Correa and Springer are making these walk off wins a habit. Houston is .500 for the first time since they were 1-1.

After having lost 5 straight, the Cardinals have won 2 in a row against the Cubbies. Man losing those late game leads against the Rangers are still stinging right now.

With a win, sweep today, the Cardinals could get this lead down to single digit games.

There's no magic formula for winning one-run games. It's a function of randomness more than anything else.

I imagine the Yankees sell regardless. Even if they just sell one of their bullpen trio. They can still net a great return.

I'd hope so. I hope Hal is just trying to stir up interest for ticket sales, but he's pretty adamant that he thinks we'll still be in it lol. I'll be pissed if we don't deal.
