Essentially, the runner has to sacrifice his own body to let the defense make the play. That's like in basketball once a guy starts his jump shot, you can't touch him. You foul him, outright free points, just skip the free throws! I get they are trying to protect players, but it's a ridiculous thing to try and judge.
Ehhhh....I guess I can see that but if Pillar was going full force and did an actual take out slide both guys would've been in a huge heap and the rule would be applied anyways.

The letter of this rule completely destroys any leeway for interpretation because any sane person could tell you that Pillar was doing his best to protect himself, Hernandez and at the same time try not to break the rule.

Man oh man....That was the Jays offense of 2015 in this Philly series. Jeez, they just whipped em from one end of the stadium to the next.

Let's hope the bats keep going against the O's.

Ouch, bad blow to Detroit with J.D. Martinez breaking his elbow running into the wall.

If I were GM, I'd start rebuilding around Miggy right now. Sadly, with Ilitch there, no chance.

The Fred is 10/18 with 3 HRs in his last 4 games.

Willie Contreras called up to the Cubs, taking the spot of Federowicz.

It'll be interesting to see how much he plays.

Pirates are at .500 right now. The team is in a tailspin and can easily be under .500 with the upcoming series against the Cubs. It's looking like a lost season with the injuries and horrible pitching.

Maybe they can have fielders simply point to 2nd base, count to 3 and then throw to first to complete a double play. That'll fix the problem!

Pillar slid late as ****, the reason he rolled is BECAUSE the slide was bad. He ran out of room, if he slid on time and didn't roll it wouldn't have been illegal.

Baltimore in first place, but the home fans are booing them hard because they're having a bad game. Tough crowd.

Watch out AL East. The Jays are hot as a pistol right now even without Bautista for a while.

I think the Pirates are getting sick of seeing Arrieta. Pittsburgh in some trouble this season and got shut down by the Cubbies today.

I think they had a reason to, Mike Wright made all kinds of comments saying Jays hitters have holes and how we're giving them too much credit. I guess he can eat those words in spades.

Yeah. Wright probably shouldn't be doing that about anyone really.

Michael Saunders with a 3 HR 8 RBI game. Crazy.

Missed four by a tiny bit earlier too.

I really, really hate Jack Zdurencic, I don't even care enough to look up how to spell that clowns name. He should be blacklisted from baseball. He traded Saunders for peanuts. I half expected Smoak to turn into Adrian Gonzales after we traded him lol.
