Re: What do the Yankees do now?

There's not much they can do with their everyday players because they have so many big contracts. Their core of Jeter, A-Rod, Sheffield, Giambi, and Matsui will remain. I don't know if they'll ship Bernie or if they'll DH him next year like they planned this past offseason.

    My prediction:

They'll sign Beltran, Matt Clement, Carl Pavano, and Troy Percival to set up Rivera. OK, so they probably won't sign all of these guys but hey, who honestly thought they'd add Sheffield and A-Rod last year?
    Minnesota Vikings
    Minnesota Twins
    Chicago Bulls
    UNC Tar Heels

I don't think anybody is retiring.

I expect to see Pavano and Beltran to be signed as FA's.
no way the a's take back giambi with his inflated salary (unless the yanks were willing to take on a big chunck of his contract).

I'm getting queasy right now thinking about how much money the Yankees are going to spend.

I hear the Yanks are willing to pick up a large part of his contract.

Money isn't an issue for George.

He realizes the team needs more youth. The CF position is ready for Beltran.

The only way Beltran doesn't end in NY is if he doesn't like the city. No other team will offer him the combo of money, fame, and a strong chance to win the title every year.

On the Yankees Beltran is just another player. On the Astros he's a hero. They have a collection being taken in Houston to donate to Beltran's charity if he resigns with the Astros. He'd be crazy to leave for more money and if he does he's just another sellout like arod, giambi, etc.

With Scott Boros as his agent, odds are he'll be a Yankee. But their's always the chance he'll pull a Vlad Guerrero and spurn the Yankees.

The Vladster never snubbed the Yanks. Even when he was a Montreal the reports said he was a quiet person that didnt want the spotlight on him 24/7.

The Yanks never made him a offer.

Beltran will be a Yank by opening day next season. Trust me on this one!!!!!
