Let's not get carried away with the whole "buy the WS" and not enough home grown players argument. The entire core of their offense and pitching from from trades or free agent signings.

Nixon is the only player drafted by the Red Sox that you mentioned. Mueller was a free-agent addition for the 2003 season and Embree was part of a 2002 trade.

I agree. As much as people get on the Yankees about how they are buying world series, and how they have no home grown talent, the Red Sox are just as guilty. Remember, they tried to get A-Rod, they are the ones who brought in Schilling, etc. But it is still good to see them win.

What's more likely to happen is he fires everybody, signs Beltran, and all the available pitchers, and the Yankees will continue to go to the playoffs and lose until all the veterans are no longer productive, and the team becomes the joke of the league like the Mets have been, and the Rangers in hockey.
I never knew Tanyon Sturtze and Miguel Cairo were superstars. If so, I'd like to try out for that league

You miss my point. You were talking about how $teinbrenner "buys" all his players. I'm just pointing out that the Sox are just as bad. But maybe your post shouldn't have been the one to quote...just happened to be the last one before I posted mine... i'm not attacking you. i'm mearley pointing out the fact that too many people blame the yanks (or laugh at them) for spending so much money on talented free agents only to miss out on the WS again.

And for the record Curt Schilling was drafted by the Red Sox in the 1986 amateur draft ironically. Trot Nixon came up through their minor league system as well.
Ah yes, I stand corrected about Schilling. But realize that he didn't become a bonified star until his days in Philly, and did not play a single major league game with the Sox (his first was with my lowly O's).

I dont know the specifics of whos gonna come and go, but you have to figure this offseason is all about PITCHING...

Johnson, Pavano, Clement... setup guys, lefty specialists

they are much more important than adding to he offense right now.

In the WS 2003, Florida beat us with small ball and Pitching..

Yesterday, we couldnt even make a game of GAME 7 ALCS because our PITCHING...

I am the biggest yankee fan out there. Was @ both game 6 & 7. You should see the yankee message boards. They want everybody traded. They want wells & clemens back. Talk about bandwagon. Talk about spoiled.

George Steinbrenner is running this team into the ground like he did after the 1981 world series. Stars don't win Championships. Teams win championships. The Yankees of the last 3 years has been nothing but the Bronx traveling All-Stars.

We have no prospects to offer in any trades. We have contracts that nobody wants. I tell ya if Brian Cashman is still our GM, he better have a magic wand because this team has holes bigger than the Holland Tunnel...
