Because nothing like that ever happened in the 'old era'.

Now I think the division can go to Boston. Making up 5 in 10 even with 3 against them is tough. Only worth playing for homefield in the wildcard and go from there. Taking 2 of 3 from Baltimore next week at home only makes a one-game playoff against them look better, or even eliminates them.

And as for the Yankees fans complaining about Girardi's bullpen habits, I think I'd look at the 3rd name on 'best bullpen managers list'.

As September draws to a close with multiple teams still locked in tight playoff races, baseball fans across the country have ample reason to pore over every las…

I stopped when I saw number 1. Joe Torre is the best bullpen manager since 2000? He was an awful bullpen manager, his relievers often said so. He just ran guys into the ground.

Side note, it's been a great year watching rookies for me. See Gary everyday, then flip over to MASN and see Trea Turner going off. It's awesome.

Braves need to go 2-8 in their last 10 to avoid 100 losses, a thought that was pretty unfathomable a few months ago. If they go 4-6 they will match last year's record. I'd love to see them go 9-1 to get to 70 wins, but that's being optimistic to say the least.

I know, people are finally realizing how stupid the unwritten rules are and that it's okay to emote and express yourself.

The O's are begging to be knocked out of playoff contention.

Mike Trout with another 10 WAR season. Too bad the Angels blow and they'll continue to blow for a while.

These limp noodle Wild Card "races" really have me wondering if we really need 2 Wild Cards per league.

It seems that none of the Jays, O's, Tigers, Mariners, and Astros are all that deserving in the AL and same deal for the Mets, Giants, and Cards in the NL. The system is not functioning as it was intended to this year (bailing out a really good team that just happens to be in the same division as a juggernaut). It's basically seeing who wants it least and giving a playoff berth to a team that is just slightly better than that.

Last season was exactly how it should work with STL, CHC, and PIT all playing with their hair on fire down the stretch. I am starting to pine for the days when we had 1 Wild Card per league. Maybe a conditional format where you need to have xx number of wins to get a WC spot and the playoffs can adapt from 4 to 5 teams based on that. Of course that's a dumb idea and would never happen though.

It's not going to be perfect every year, but I think it's done more good than bad in terms of excitement to end the season.

No matter what the format is, people will always be upset at it. A year like this, the #1WC team might not even hit 90 wins. In past years, the 2nd WC team would've had 90+ wins had it existed. And people still weren't happy with it last year too, how a top 3 team in the MLB would be eliminated due to the 1 game WC. Had only 1 WC even existed, a 97 win Cubs team wouldn't even be in the playoffs, and people would be complaining there's not enough WC teams.

Well we've seen some teams in the past (even in the era of the LCS) where teams have severely backed their way into the postseason only to win it all.

You never know what can happen in sports. This year doesn't seem like the greatest in terms of caliber of Wild Card teams but I bet one of them will make a crap ton of noise.

The Twins can't even intentionally walk someone without giving up a run. A new rock bottom.

What's the word on Molitor? Is he going to get a pass for this year?

The best manager in the world couldn't help this group of rejects they call a pitching staff.

I'd like to know too. I feel like you can't get an accurate read on him based on one year of overachieving and one year where everything that can go wrong did. He needs at least another year.
