I figured the Twins would be at least 5 games out by now, but here they sit in 1st place.

I've been screaming for a return to the balanced schedule for YEARS but noooo....We have to have Interleague and all that crap in the game today. A balanced schedule also gives a truer measure of a team instead of strong divisions beating the crap out of each other or a team inflating their worth by rampaging through a weak one.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I have to admit i'm looking forward to the Jays series in Wrigley as well but as a general rule if it takes getting rid of interleague in order to retain a balanced schedule i'll go that route.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I believe September should be all divisional play, last year for whatever reason the Yankees played the freaking Dodgers in September, which made no sense.

I enjoyed the Cubs Red Sox too, but I understand where your coming from. I'm personally fine with the scheduling though for the most part.

Re: 5/1 - 5/14 Game Discussion Thread
I think the "problem" (and I use that extremely loosely, as I and nobody here has any issue with it) with Mike Trout is that he's too respectful. He's no Bryce Harper, he's CLEARLY no Machado. He just does everything the right way, says all the right things, and lives with being the best baseball player in the world.
That's why the media doesn't want to cover him. The only story on him is how incredible he is. He doesn't talk about how how much he doesn't respect a single person in another organization, he doesn't insult the media, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I love everything about Bryce Harper. But I'm just trying to state a reason as to why nobody talks about Trout.
For example, nobody really cared about what McCutchen was doing this year until Marte got suspended and Cutch was seen on TV mouthing the words "This is my spot". The media only cares about the drama.
The Angels are a mediocre, low-profile team on the west coast. Plus, from what I've read, Trout actively avoids the spotlight. If Trout moves to the Yankees/Red Sox/Cubs/Dodgers/Mets, or the Angels make noise in the playoffs, Trout will get more of the national spotlight he deserves.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: 5/1 - 5/14 Game Discussion Thread
Let's see how they manage to screw up this leadoff double.
Well, first step is Bryant grounding back to the mound, Almora can't advance.
Phils wanted to screw it up more. Wild throw to 1st on a DP ball and the Cubs win 5-4.Last edited by bcruise; 05-04-2017, 06:20 PM.Comment

They do, but I don't think that's the main reason they don't cover Trout. It's primarily market and place in the standings. Does Kris Bryant insult the media? Would Harper be a polarizing figure if he played for the Padres? Aaron Judge already has a higher national profile than Paul Goldschmidt.

Not because he wouldn't be good or because he would crumble under media pressure, but because the expectations would be outlandish.

The fact that Trout isn't a jabroni is exactly why I love him so much.Comment
