On paper yes. But both Betances and Chapman have been very shaky this year.

Don't really like giving up Rutherford in this deal. If I thought this trade made us good enough to win a world series sure, but we're at least a strong starting pitcher away from that.

I don't know if they would part with him, but I thought about Jedd Gyorko of the Cardinals. He's signed thru 2019 with an option for 2020 that has a $1M buyout.

This is honestly why I'm not a huge fan of trading away future talent to win today.

                  Rutherford, Clarkin, and someone else.

I don't hate it. Prospects aren't guaranteed. That bullpen is looking very solid now. Frazier is a local guy and is definitely an upgrade on Choi and Carter.

Getting 2 high quality pen arms is a good move for the Yankees. Betances always struggles to locate despite top-5-in-baseball stuff. The Cubs rode Chapman hard during their run last year and it's even money whether he can hold up this year and into the playoffs again, imo.

As an added perk, they already know Robertson can handle pitching in NY and he already has a rapport with the coaching staff. These guys should be relatively fresh since the White Sox often aren't in possession of the lead.

                      Deal looks to be done.

                      Yankees Get:
Todd Frazier, Tommy Kahnle, and David Robertson

                      White Sox Get:
Tito Polo, Blake Rutherford, Ian Clarkin, and Tyler Clippard

Lol thank god Clippard is gone. Surprised they gave up on Rutherford that quickly though. But Yankees look to be pretty well off with outfielders in the future. So it makes sense.

Bullpen definitely improves, and Frazier will be a upgrade.

                        Yankees need a starter now.

Rick Hahn told reporters the Sox are officially open for business. Said he's looking to trade Melky, Avasail, Derek Holland, even recently acquired Tyler Clippard.

Domingo Leyba could have been Kinsler's replacement in a few years. We already have an Alcantara, his name is Dixon Machado. We would have been better off with the 1st rounder if he left in FA.

This is the kind of deal the Tigers would come out of nowhere to pull 5 years ago, getting an impact bat for a trio of ho-hum prospects.

Avila and Wilson are up next. Kinsler would be a good trade candidate, but most good teams have a 2B.
I'm already ready for Big Al to go.

Announce to the world you're selling in the offseason, then give away your only CF who happens to be coming off a good season and has a nice contract... for nothing

                            Make no other moves.

Announce again you're selling at the deadline. Panic 2 weeks early and give JD away for not much.

This is a deal you get at the last minute when it starts to look like you won't get anything, not a deal you make with 2 weeks left and plenty of time to negotiate. Not that I was expecting a haul for JD, but I figured it would be more than this

There's a thing on ESPN with Olney saying Boston should try to get Machado.

If they do call, Baltimore should immediately tell them to shove it and hang up the phone.
