    Re: 8/28 - 9/10 Game Discussion Thread

Personally I am concerned. I don't mind the losses it's the way in which we are losing that bothers me. We either don't hit or we score 6 runs and the pen blows the lead. Still don't understand why Dave Roberts continues to go to Pedro Baez. I get it show faith in the player, but he shouldn't be out there.

You would think eventually we'll snap out of it and get back on track, but right now we just aren't clicking and the Dbacks are as hot as we once were. Not much you can do except hope things fall your way.

My concern is the Nationals catching us for Home Field Advantage for the playoffs that would hurt any chance we have in my opinion.

Starting pitching needs to pick it up. Since his almost no hitter Rich Hill hasn't been very good. Darvish hasn't looked good the last 2 starts. Wood is losing some velo, but that could be from the soreness he was having so we'll see. I just hope we get it together quickly otherwise it'll be an early exit in the post season.

      Mike Trout is so nasty.

.333/.466/.670, 197 wRC+, .460 wOBA, 18.7 K% are all career bests. He's going to get to 8 WAR despite only 115 or so games played. He's getting better somehow.

Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta left Monday's start with a right hamstring injury but is hopeful that he won't miss his next scheduled start.

I mean, if we have another 1-9 stretch and the D-Backs win another 11 in a row, yeah, I'll get worried about the division.

Bigger worry is that this is more likely than not our NLDS matchup.

The Diamondbacks are the first team to have achieved a Perfect Game, a 20-K game, and a 4-homer game.

Hill was pretty good tonight; things only went south when our bullpen decided to throw batting practice to Arizona's hitters. I'm more worried about the latter two guys. If you include his last couple of starts in Texas, Darvish has been pretty bad since July 1st. Wood's been pretty mediocre since the ASB break too.

We weren't as good as the team that went 50-10 over 60 games or whatever it was, and we're not this bad either, obviously. 4 of the 9 losses during this stretch have come against the D-backs. We're playing our worst baseball of the year at a time when an already good Arizona team is playing out of their minds.

                    I love JD. Dude's awesome.

Too bad LA is so damn far ahead in the division and it doesn't mean jack and that the Diamondbacks are 7 games up on the Rockies and it's still gonna only come down to a random game. SMH.

Ya, after I posted that last night I was thinking and realized there are only about 25 games left. It's practically impossible to blow a 12.5 game lead with 25 games to go. Even if LA played .500 ball, the DBacks would essentially need to win every game. Won't happen...

The Diamondbacks are 22 games over .500 but yet are 12 1/2 games back.

                        That's just unbelievable to me.

Cubs last year, one of the more dominant baseball teams we've seen in a while, lost 15 of 21 games from late June to early July. 1975 Big Red Machine lost 6 games in a row in May. Over a 162 game season, even great teams are going to play terrible baseball for certain stretches. That shouldn't change our underlying view of them.

And the Cubs were average for an even longer period of time before and after that streak. I do think the timing should be concerning for the Dodgers, but they can surely turn it back around and go on another 10 game win streak

Braves #8 prospect Luis Gohara (acquired in the Mallex Smith/Shae Simmons trade from Seattle) called up to make his debut tonight. Gohara started the year at A ball and moved up the system all the way to AAA. So much pitching in the Braves system...it's like an open tryout these days to see who has "it".
