Re: 8/28 - 9/10 Game Discussion Thread
Which Darvish blew. I was always skeptical about getting him; that skepticism is being justified with each lousy start he makes.
I was at yesterday's game and there were loud boos after it ended. I know we're all spoiled after the historic stretch we had and that it wasn't going to last, but...no one saw this coming. I'm not sure even the Phillies have had a 1-13 stretch this season.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 09-09-2017, 08:16 PM.I write things on the Internet.

The Indians have won 17 in a row. The Browns have won 15 games since the start of the 2013 season.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 09-09-2017, 06:40 PM.I write things on the Internet.

It's pretty typical that once I get comfortable with this Cubs team, they go out and make me look stupid for feeling that way.

That's an unfortunate way to have an unusual, exciting play. Hope Fowler's alright.
It's big in the game too - that inside-the-parker is the go ahead run.

This comment notwithstanding...Kemp just made a heck of a catch/play. Didn't think there was anyway he would get to it...laid out in the gap to take a double away from Ozuna and then doubled off Yelich at 2nd."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Rockies already up 4-0 on Alex Wood...DBacks winning as well. Will we have a single digit lead in the NL West after tonight?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Pirates playing the infield in with the shift on vs Grichuk....yeah, that didn't work.
Cardinals get the lead in the 8th.
And Nicasio nails down his 2nd save in 2 days. Did the Cards find their closer?

Nicasio looks good, but only downside is that if we sneak our way into the playoffs, he's not eligible.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Oh boy, Arizona. The Snakes let San Diego put 6 runs on them in the 9th to cough the game up 8-7. Some really bad pitching for Arizona (Corbin, Chafin, Rodney) over the last 2 nights otherwise we're probably looking at an 8 game NL West lead and full meltdown of the Dodgers, who just can't seem to win.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Not enough time for me to care about the NL West lead.
Just hope Arizona/Colorado hold on or hell, the Cardinals get in somehow and face a struggling Dodgers team. Boy wouldn't that be delicious.
There's still 3 weeks though. LA will turn it around I'm sure of it. All they need is a nice 5-of-7 stretch and their confidence will be right back to where it was.Comment

Damnit, Brett Anderson has the Toronto media writing articles about how he's got the Jays front office thinking of signing him to be one of their starters. As someone said this could all be a mirage and he'll be injured most of the time once he has security.
Gotta say though, he's pitching great. Before yesterday afternoon it came out that he was feeling as great as he felt back in 2015 and he's in a real great groove. At the very least, he found something here whether he sticks around or not.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

2009 (rookie): 175.1
2010: 112.1
2011: 83.1
2012: 35.0
2013: 44.2
2014: 43.1
2015: 180.1
2016: 11.1
2017 (so far): 39.2
He's pitched about 4 years out of a 9 year career. That's not good for a pitcher that's been used almost exclusively a starter--he came out of the bullpen some in 2013. In fact, he may be one of the least durable SPs in recent memory.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 09-10-2017, 12:00 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
