Wait, so Ichiro is back back with the Mariners? So this isn't a one day to retire with the Mariners thing? Yikes.

That would be a weird fit. With Hosmer and Arrieta, the Padres would be competing hard (and paying a lot) for 4th place in the division. While giving up picks. We'll see where he goes...

Really not sure how Cobb and Lynn remain unsigned, they strike me as the sort of guy literally every team would want? Not hugely expensive, not requiring a huge commitment, but just solid middle of the rotation guys.

This off season has been so broken that it's going to be the catalyst for a huge change in baseball

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a work stoppage of some kind. (hopefully a very short one)

Forgot to mention Jose Bautista may throw in the towel Apparently he's had a few offers of a million dollars (or slightly more) but nothing that meets his expectations.

Latest word has it being most likely a one year deal. Royals aren't confirming one way or the other.

Lynn is waiting for the Cardinals to quit screwing around, call him up and offer him close to what he is asking for.

Come on guys, make the call, make the deal and lets get him into camp!

Abra Kadabra, deal is done. 1-year deal, mutual second-year option. 5.5 million, 2.2 mill in bonuses. Mutual option for 15 million, with a 1 million buyout.

Wow, would have never thought Moose would have to settle for 1 year deal.

Wonder if Arrieta goes the same route?

I don't see it with the Cubs.. there's no spot in the rotation.

EDIT: Never mind, I misunderstood what you were saying. You meant more about the 1 year deal.

Ya. Kinda expected. Unlike other guys, he's not gonna accept lower value. His pride won't let him do that.

Wonder if at the very least he might just sign 1 day contract with Jays and hang it up after that if he really does want to retire. Don't really know how that works. When guys are retiring, do they sign 1 day contracts with a team if that team was also their most recent(and most known) one?
