"The Braves “expect to lose” prized prospect Kevin Maitan as part of MLB’s investigation into the team’s alleged violations of international and domestic amateur signing rules, Gammons hear from a source within the Atlanta organization. Interestingly, the feeling within the new Braves front office (now led by new GM Alex Anthopoulos) is that “Maitan was [not] worth the money or the hype,” so losing him wouldn’t be a major setback for the farm system. Maitan signed for a $4.25MM bonus at the opening of the 2016-17 July 2 international signing period, and he hit .241/.290/.340 in his first pro season, receiving 176 PA in rookie ball. Despite those unimpressive numbers, Maitan came into the season as a consensus top-100 prospect in baseball and is still just 17 years old — even if the new Braves decision-makers weren’t keen on Maitan, they’d still be losing a significant trade chip if the league did indeed void his contract with the team"Last edited by kenp86; 11-20-2017, 12:52 AM.Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

I'd rather get Longoria than Donaldson. Would cost less too.Comment

Where would they trade him? Cards?

Re: 2017-2018 MLB Hot Stove Thread
The Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants have reportedly discussed a trade that would send Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon to the Giants in exchange for second baseman Joe Panik, pitching prospect Tyler Beede and outfielder prospect Chris Shaw, according to Craig Mish of SiriusXM.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post noted the Yankees are "willing to take on a single player with upside and pedigree" like Profar in order to help clear excess from their 40-man roster. He listed the San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays as other possible landing spots.
The Rangers are set to acquire right-hander Ronald Herrera from the Yankees, reports MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand (on Twitter). The two teams announced the trade shortly thereafter, revealing that lefty Reiver Sanmartin is going to the Yankees in returnLast edited by kenp86; 11-20-2017, 03:07 PM.Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

Joe Panik seems like such a Jeter type of guy. It doesn't surprise me to see his name linked to a potential trade there.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Mets and Tigers are discussing a possible trade that would include Ian Kinsler. They are also holding discussions with the Angels as well.
Gift Ngoepe has been traded to the Blue Jays for cash considerations.
Josh Ravin and Grant Dayton have both been acquired by the Braves from the Dodgers.Last edited by ShowTyme15; 11-20-2017, 11:43 PM.Comment

Unreal...they hammered us. Just flat out destroyed us...well beyond what I expected. Oh well...at least we kept Waters. This debacle has cost us 12 prospects, over $20M, and draft picks going forward. So frustrating...at least it's done now and we can move forward."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I want to see the investigation...everything he did. It must have been heinous...
BTW - the guy came up in the Yankee system and Blakely came from the Yankee system. Makes me wonder what goes on in the Bronx. Maybe they came up with all of this all on their own, but I'm willing to bet they didn't."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
