Blame me if the Cubs blow it, but I like how Maddon is managing this 9th inning very...sabermetrically. 3 pitchers to get 3 outs and playing matchups.

If the score holds, the Cubs will be an impressive 6-1 against Milwaukee and going for the 4-game sweep tomorrow.

Yonny Chirinos using the unusual tactic of loading the bases with no outs to start each inning.

          Love Ozzie but..

          Bench his ***

How do you not run that out?

Edit - bad managing job by snit. Ozzie is probably the 2nd best player on the team so you want him in the lineup. You have to show the young guy there are consequences when you don't play hard though.

The Rays are on fire, even Johnny Field getting in on the act. Red Sox don't know what's hit them, so many homers over the green monster!

Rylan Sandoval has found his new Position.... a pitcher. He looked like a natural! (From a small sample of a couple pitches I’ve seen him throw)

                    Re: 4/23 - 5/6 Game Discussion Thread

Typical Braves bullpen outing right here. The only reason there was a battle to Santana there is because he decided to help Minter out by swinging at a 58-foot fastball.

On another front, I have not seen this many runs scored in a home Giants game in a long, long time. Last one in recent memory was a 12-9 victory over the Marlins game (I remember the old rookie Brian Dallimore getting a grand slam as his first hit). I'll have to fact-check the last time 21 runs were scored in a single game at AT&T Park (EDIT: to clarify, I'm watching this game on record and am currently in the bottom of the 8th inning). I wonder what the nightcap will look like.

EDIT: Wow, what a top of the ninth inning for the Giants! Most entertaining ninth half-inning of the year so far, and it lasted maybe all of three minutes.

The amount of BBs Atlanta's bullpen gives up is just maddening.

The Braves bullpen has walked 16% of batters they've faced so far this year.

Well, you know me... I had to go ahead and fact-check this.

Here's what I found from Baseball Reference (up until that Marlins game I was talking about), totaling to fifteen games (fourteen if you don't count runs scored after nine innings):

                              2017:
                              Won 13-8 against Minnesota
Lost 9-12 against San Diego* (11-inning ballgame)
                              Lost 9-12 against Philadelphia

                              2016:
                              Won 13-9 against San Diego
                              Lost 17-7 against Colorado
                              Lost 11-13 against Oakland

                              2015:
                              Won 13-8 against San Diego

                              2010:
                              Won 16-5 against Cincinnati
Lost 11-12 against Cincinnati* (12-inning game, but 22 runs were already scored by the 9th)

                              2008:
                              Lost 8-13 against Chicago (AL)
                              Lost 6-15 against Colorado

                              2007:
                              Won 12-10 against Florida

                              2006:
                              Lost 7-14 against Los Angeles

                              2005:
                              Lost 10-11 against Cincinnati

                              2004:
                              Won 18-7 against Arizona

Conclusion: I guess that is not that rare of a feat, even for AT&T Park.

I guess I was overreacting mostly because of the doubleheader, essentially thinking to myself that: "The overall day is longer than it seems." The other reason that old game stuck out to me was because it was 9-9 after the second inning was over.

The Yankees are rocking the Angels. 10-0 in the 2nd inning. I'm happy I didn't choose to go to this one.
