At least Suzuki got hit where there is some padding for once.

Re: 4/23 - 5/6 Game Discussion Thread
Strike zone in tonights Astros Angels game is as bad as I’ve seen. It’s all over the place. Hasn’t been an advantage to either team but both pitchers and hitters are getting frustrated.

Tough at bat for Dansby...that change up was brutal after all those sinkers."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Trevor Story with a no doubt grand slam! Rockies are hammering the Padres tonight, up 7-0 in the second inning.

From a no hitter thru 6 innings to a 7-7 game in the 11th inning. What is happening in Cincinnati?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Andrelton Simmons with his 2nd bomb of the night. 8-5 Angels.
Not sure why Atlanta gave him up. Angels win that trade and it's not close.Comment

Man, that game against Boston tonight ended up much more tense than I wanted it to be. Glad the Jays didn't totally waste Happ's great performance.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 4/23 - 5/6 Game Discussion Thread
While I would love to have him at SS (he was fun to watch play D), his offense had sucked for 2 straight years, he refused to make adjustments, and eventually he was asking for a trade. I also don't know if I could make a call yet on who won the trade...if Newcomb turns into a #1/2 and Swanson develops into a solid shortstop, I'd say it was a decent trade for both teams (I know Swanson didn't come from the Angels...I only reference him because he was who they got to replace Simmons)."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: 4/23 - 5/6 Game Discussion Thread
Honestly as an outsider I think it was a trade that the Braves needed to make. Simmons had gotten into a rut and needed a change of scenery. You can't really blame them for what they did. It might look foolhardy right now but I also think if Simmons had remained in ATL he wouldn't have made changes to up his offensive game.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 4/23 - 5/6 Game Discussion Thread
I hated that trade at the time, and I still do (even though it seems we have our replacement SS). Simmons is an all-time great defensive SS who saved the team a lot. The bat that you've seen the last year + in LA though is not the same bat that he had in Atlanta. So I do kind of understand why Atlanta made the trade, but the best Atlanta can hope for at this point is that the trade was a wash (if Newcomb turns out to be a true top of rotation guy).Comment

Yeah it's smart to give up on the best defensive player in baseball who hadn't entered his prime. Good move.Comment
