Re: 5/7 - 5/20 Game Discussion Thread
Just saw that he's ineligible for the postseason (I know, it's the Mariners. Hear me out).
If a player gets suspended for anything, does that disqualify him for the postseason? Or is it just PEDs?
UPDATE: it's not for steroids, but for the drug Furosemide. It was prescribed to him by a licensed doctor in the Dominican, and he didn't realize it was on the banned substance list.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 05-15-2018, 01:21 PM.Boston Red Sox

Re: 5/7 - 5/20 Game Discussion Thread
Are we supposed to just believe a permanently healthy, hall of fame bound, 35 year old just now decided to risk his entire career and legacy by starting doing drugs? Seems a very strange time to start, surely brings into question the veracity of the testing procedures?Comment

I just updated my post. It isn't for PEDs. It was a medication that was on the banned substance list.Boston Red Sox

Re: 5/7 - 5/20 Game Discussion Thread
Yeah he's obviously denied he's cheating and claimed he's taking the diuretic for medical reasons and not as a masking agent, as you'd expect regardless of the truth. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing you'd take without thinking it might not be allowed though, you'd expect a veteran like him to know better than to take serious medication without asking the club if it's okComment

Re: 5/7 - 5/20 Game Discussion Thread
(my post was basically ^)
So Cano conveniently dropped the appeal during his injury? Seems like a real cheap thing to have happen. He'll be suspended, but he's missing games with injury anyways so he's not missing as much time with the suspension?
Sucks with all this going on, Mariners still have to pay him ALOT for next handful of years. Maybe one day they can work out something like teams are able to void a contract with a player if something significant like this happens?Comment

No, I choose to believe most of these guys have used PEDs all along. Just so happens Cano was dumb enough to get caught this time.Comment

Correct. Some fans seem to think that MLB testing procedures are foolproof, and that any time a player is caught, it means he just started using recently. Those fans are hopelessly naive.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. I don't think I've ever even heard anything about TUE's in baseball and that's an area absolutely rife with cheating. (that's how us Brits win all our cycling medals) If people think players just stopped cheating because they brought rules in and a bit of testing, they are living in denial.Comment

Exactly my thoughts. I’ll be damned if at least 50% of these athletes aren’t on some substance and just haven’t gotten caught yet.
