i have no idea why Theo signed Chatwood to the contract he got. considering what other mid-tier starting pitchers got. the hope is get Darvish back and have Montgomery as the 5 and just relegate Chatwood to long relief...

Javy Baez is batting .129 (4/31) so far in June. His "plate discipline" seems to be catching up to him after a hot start to the year. I noticed that Baez is last in baseball in O-Swing% (he swings at 48.5% of the pitches he sees that aren't strikes). Corey Dickerson is 2nd worst and a full 4% better than Baez. Maybe not shocked to see that Joey Votto is best at not swinging at garbage (17.5% O-Swing).

Javy is also tops in MLB at swing rate...he swings at 61.5% of the pitches he sees. Dickerson is 2nd at 57.5%. League average is 46.1%.

**** is wrong with Kapler!? Luis Garcia has had no game for the last 2 weeks and he puts him in in the 9th inning to what? Boost his confidence? Now they run the risk of losing this game and ruining a great start by Nola. There's a fine line between inspiring and stupid!

Anyone looking for a pitcher sportin' an Abe Lincoln beard?

Chatwood had been really good away from Coors Field the last 3 years. His concern was health. He always walked too many guys, but I don't think anyone could foresee him averaging 8 BB/9 this season.

On the bright side, Chatwood's Ks finally caught up to his BBs tonight. He has 58 of each in 63.1 IP. Replacement level despite a decent 3.98 ERA.

Jays lose another game. Despite this, their GM doesn't know if they'll be sellers.

If they're unsure at this point about selling, then what exactly will need to happen to make them sell. They're not making the playoffs, got abunch of vets on expiring deals, and others who should be moved too.

I guess that's the issue with being owned by a publicly traded company. The owners only care about money, not building a sports franchise.

Miggy Cabrera done for the year. Ruptured left biceps tendon. Sad to see this future HOF'r falling apart as he gets older.

On another note, Mike Trout doing Mike Trout stuff with a great catch on Nelly Cruz in CF.

I dunno, the Leafs and Raptors are owned by BOTH Bell and Rogers and they seem to run things better.

I think it's just that Shapiro and Atkins are so corporate speak and "safe" that they come off really badly especially Atkins who sounds like he's way in over his head.

Leafs for years were like that. Good enough to draw TV interest, but not good enough to make playoffs, and not bad enough to get a top pick(if they even kept their own pick). Selling the fanbase false hope.

The big turnaround for the Toronto teams was Tim Leiweke. He was only there for a short time, but in that time he basically told everyone they're doing everything wrong and just did his own thing, brought in the right people to be in charge of these teams and then he left. I don't think the success is because MLSE suddenly became great owners, it's because of what Leiweke did in that short time.

Think about it. He was president of MLSE for just over 2 years. In that span, he did things like bring Bradley and Giovinco to TFC, got NBA all star game in Toronto, hired Shanahan as Leafs president, and Ujiri as Raptors GM. How many big things can you name that MLSE did before 2013? And even since 2016, how many big things have they done that didn't just stem from those moves Leiweke did?

I wonder what his route efficiency was on that. It kinda looked like one of those "bad routes turns a relatively easy catch into a spectacular looking one"

Trout just made sure no one caught that one...

                              Good for Miggy's pocketbook, though

From now to the end of his contract, the Tigers owe Cabrera a cool 180 million, guaranteed.

Got to be one of the worst contracts in baseball right now.

Gotta agree though, it's sad to see his career ending this way.
