This signing would dwarf the stupidity of the Mo Vaughn contract.

Don't FAs HAVE to take a physical in order to join a team? Isn't that MLB protocol? If so then Pedro's stuck in Boston. If the Mets do somehow get Pedro when he has a 90% tear of the labrum then i'll LMAO. The Mets always seem to make at least one bad signing every year no matter who the GM is.

I heard this morning on sportscenter that the Mets are waiving Pedro's MRI. In other words, it won't be a part of the physical. I guess they're that desperate to make a splash and aren't took confident it will happen if Pedro's shoulder is checked out. For you Sox fans, Bill Simmons's column on ESPN page 2 is a must read for some consolation and some good perspective.

Just in, Schilling may miss the opener because of his ankle surgery! Super.

Wow, the Mets are dumbed than I thought. Looks like Pedro's pampering in NY will begin before he even signs the contract.

I haven't been the most vocal of Mets fans, I've generally soured on baseball in general since the last strike... But if the Mets sign this cat without having an MRI done, I don't know... If I'm still in NY when baseball season starts, I'll just go to Brooklyn Cyclones games.

I'm a lifelong Mets fan (I'll be 30 years old next year). I am done with them. Minaya is even worse than Phillips/Duquette. This organization has absolutely no idea what it is doing, and it all starts at the top with Wilpon, who is the worst professional sports team owner in America (save Donald Serling).

I still can't believe the Mets traded away Kazmir for Zambrano. I expect anyday for them to trade Wright for Cory Lidle or a C level prospect.

Simmons is probably my favorite sports writer. He's witty and clever and his column on Pedro is very well done. It captures how I feel perfectly and I can definitly relate to the sentiment about feeling a need to get to a TV set whenever Pedro was pitching. We may not have won a title until now in Boston, but we really were spoiled as baseball fans when we got to watch Pedro in his prime every fifth day.
