Which people? Phillies fans? They look legit enough to me, even if I do expect the Nationals to take the NL East in the end.

Even before the season I thought of the Phillies as a dark horse for the second WC if some things broke their way. Easily to envision a good top of the rotation with Nola, Velazquez and Arrieta as the top 3.

Exciting race for the NL East so far.

A's sweep the Padres and are now 9 games over .500. 48th win today. They didn't get win 48 last year till August 2nd. They're 8.5 games out of first place. And 7.5 out of the wildcard. :/

People won't take notice of this team. It's hard to be legit when in the AL West with Houston and those sustainable M's. I'm ok being sneaky good next year.

He better make the all star game. I'm torn whether they should trade him or keep him. He's been such a perfect veteran leader this year but Barreto (the last piece of the Donaldson trade) needs a spot to open so he can take the next step.

After the **** this guy has been through, I'm gonna throw out some Stephen Piscotty love while I'm here. He put the team on his back today with 3 of the 4 rbi and in June hit 303/382/517. Its got to be refreshing for him to be able to concentrate on playing ball again. Thanks again to the Cards for sending him home.

The AL West race....or better put it the race for the final AL Wildcard spot....could potentially get interesting. Obviously there's lots of talk about whether the M's 1 run wins are 'sustainable', so if somehow the peripheral numbers catch up to them and they start to lose their close games the Athletics become a really interesting team to sneak into the playoffs. That outside chance at probably facing Sale/Severino in the Wild Card game may not be enough to keep Billy Beane from selling high on a guy like Jed Lowrie at the deadline, but i feel like it should keep him from doing something drastic like trading Khris Davis or Piscotty (or another guy with a couple years of arbitration left) which would push them another year or two from competing

But honestly when you watch your team play and someone gets a hold of one and it just dies out there. Is a very annoying thing to watch.

It's fun to watch when team's you don't root for play with long dimensions. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Canes, I would find it hard to believe if your team hit a huge home run in the playoffs and it would be a cheapie. You'd be mad about it lol. I think you are overthinking this. You were really mad about that Acuna homerun Lol? Really?

I think you are overthinking things. I am not "mad", I just don't like that style of baseball. Just because my team won a playoff game off of a glorified popup in your situation does not mean I am not allowed to dislike it still if it made me happy at that moment.

It's like if your team won off of an obvious error by an ump. You'll be happy you are on the receiving end of it, but it doesn't mean you support umpires making bad calls.

Yankees Stadium doesn't make me mad, I just strongly dislike the dimensions there and the baseball that it produces. I'm not a fan of that. If the entire league was similar to it I would lose interest in baseball. Hopefully that clears things up. If I come off mad, then lol, so be it, but understand I am not actually mad at anything from the game of baseball. Maybe when I was a kid I'd let something as silly as baseball get me mad, but not these days. I'll show disappointment, but that is all it is and nothing more.

I honestly am surprised that me not liking those dimensions has caused as much "controversy" as it has. I'm just a guy that likes small ball and his homers to be squared up pitches instead of 317 foot fly balls. Some don't care if a homer sounds amazing off of the bat or is like what Stanton hit last night. I obviously have my preferences, but no one in here is wrong in what style of baseball they prefer.

I would love to go to a baseball camp where the coach had canes's preference of baseball but taken to the extreme:

"Where I'm from, we hit only hit the finest home runs. We want our home runs to be no-doubt flip the bat cuss-out the pitcher and walk around the bases backward type of long balls. In fact if we get any of them weak 317 ft fly ball home runs, we don't even count it as a home run. We call the batter out and make him walk his sorry a** to the nearest weight room so he can hit some real big boy homers."

On the real there definitely isn't anything wrong with your preferences. What's great about the game is that we have variety, so you can cheer for a team that meets your preferred style, whether that's based on their stadium or their actual players

Except most of us are unfortunately doomed to be fans of our favorite teams from childhood to death regardless of their style of play, success, or stadium. I may enjoy watching teams that play my style of baseball, but I will always be a Braves fan. I did dislike the years they were boom or bust at the plate when Gattis and Upton and crew were getting 12 strikeouts a game and we had to hit 3 homers a night to win, but I still rooted for them. I am much happier with the current style of Braves offense where they do all they can to put the ball in play and not strikeout.

I would like to go to that camp, though.

When are people going to take notice of this team and admit they are legit this year?

When they hold onto first place for longer than a day. Waiting for the real Arrieta to show up. Right now he's their #3 which is not why they got him.

Phils are good...really good. Their pitching rivals Walgreens for sure. Plus, Hoskins is really heating up.

NL East is going to have an interesting trade deadline to watch.

Phils definitely need some lefty bullpen help and help on the left side of the infield.

This Cardinals club is so bad at defense. When did Matt Carpenter forget how to throw a baseball? Is he hurt? Loss of confidence? He just has this robotic and awful throwing motion now.

I think both the Phils and Atlanta are for real though both clubs have their holes. They're both probably a year ahead of schedule so even if they falter you can't be too upset about it. 2019 is the year where you can rightfully put the screws to em if they perform below your expectations.

I think with Washington FINALLY petering out as a legit squad the future is now with both ATL and PHI to be the class of the division for the next few years. It's going to be fun watching those two clubs for sure. I have a soft spot for both organizations for various reasons so I have plenty to root for while the Jays do their rebuild on the fly.
