    Re: 7/2 - 7/15 Game Discussion Thread

Pisses me off that the Nationals were on the ropes and now they have life with that dumb comeback against Florida and then winning again. Made up 2 games in 2 days.

I hate when teams are on the ropes during the season and are let off the hook and then tear off ridiculous runs to get back into things. It'll happen with the Nationals too.

Not surprised we got dicked by replay again. What is this like 7 times this year?

Cardinals continue their win one lose one approach to the season.

lol, go out there, face the Yankees, and once the game is over, walk over to the other teams dugout. I remember similar thing happened in 2016. Melvin Upton was traded to the Jays by the Padres after game 1 of the Padres-Jays series. He'd make his Jays debut in GM2 of that series.

Weirdest trade like this I ever saw was back in 1991. Braves were in their worst to first season and needed bullpen help for the stretch run. They had a double header against the Mets and in the first game the completed a deal for Alejandro Pena to go from the Mets to the Braves. The first game was done and Pena literally walked over from one dugout to the next for the 2nd game!

            1. For the love of Pete let's hope that doesn't happen. Walgreens needs to DIIIIE!

            2. Yeah, replay has been so inconsistent and more often than not it's been pretty bad. I remember a game between the Twins and Rays where the umpires totally botched the call in replay because it was the game winning run and the Tampa players were going nuts. If this happened in a playoff game people would be losing their minds.

Okay, that one was really tough. I understand why they kept the call the same. If they called him out to begin with, I would have kept it the same that way as well, if that makes sense.

I don't think the umpires are influenced by the walk-off, though. First of all, remember that they are in New York, not the ones inside the stadium where **** is going down. Secondly, we saw an example of overturning one on [delayed] Opening Day at Comerica.

I hate replay, but I do wish there was more transparency with it though. Just explain some more of what happened instead of signaling everything. It just upsets half of everyone watching.

I think that's the key part. I've heard from numerous baseball broadcasters that the best they can do is have the umpires go on a mic and EXPLAIN exactly what the call was from NY rather than just signalling and leaving it up to the announcers to try and guess what the hell is going on.

2 wild pitches back to back put the Reds up 2-0. Nice one, Chatwood.

Fans audibly letting him hear it as the inning ends.

Sheesh, Chatwood has been a walking dumpster fire this season for Chicago.

I was incredulous of his signing in the offseason (and the Darvish one for the record), but Cubs fans were having none of it based on his track record away from Coors Field. Looking at his splits, however, it was clear that he was a little bit lucky on the road. His K/BB numbers were still awful and he gave up homers at the same rate. IOW, he was the same pitcher, despite what his W-L record or ERA said.

Even if he is a bad pitcher still no one expected this walk rate. His walk rate was high previously but not this high. This is unheard of.

given the Market of the mid-tier SPs it's clear they overpaid. I'm still on the Darvish signing tho.

True...he has nearly doubled his already crappy walk rate. 8.1 per 9 IP!? I didn't even realize it was that bad.

                            Yeah it's insane. k/9 is 8.59 BB/9 is 8.10. That's not normal.

aside from Lester and Montgomery lately rotation has been a disaster. They're probably going to have to go after a rental SP and phantom DL chatwood and i dunno.
