The Tigers still have to overpay inorder for free agents to come to them.... Then again, most teams overpay in free agency.....

both true...I can't blame teams for not wanting to play for the Tigers, when they have the Yankees, Red Sox, and other teams that have been winning lately chasing after them...You have to overpay to get some to come to Detroit now, but if you do it smart you'll improve and then get to where you're more of a winning destination for free agents

Is it still called overpaying if most of the teams "overpay?" If that's the case, I would call it market value.

                  Re: Magglio to the Tigers?

The Tigers have to pay more than market value for players and in most cases a lot more. They don't have the prestige or the winning tradition that other teams like the yankees have. Most players play for the cash or for the ring. Right now the Tigs can only offer the cash.

I'm just glad that Mike Illitch is finally spending money. I can finally get excited about Tiger baseball again. I loved watching the Tigers last year.

As far as a trade goes, I doubt they can trade Higgy. He has a huge contract compared to the numbers he has put up in the last few years. They'll have to eat alot of his contract for any team to take him. My guess is they might trade Monroe with the whole belt thing.

                          I know. Thank goodness too.
I was just thinking about if they trade him before the season. I'd be surprised if anyone would take him. The Tigers will probably just have to wait til the end of the year to be free of his contract.

It's funny, I always try to trade him in MVP and no team will trade for him.
