    Re: 7/23 - 8/2 Game Discussion Thread

If you took the over of 0.5 on Bonds being mentioned outside of Giants game and unrelated to his birthday today, you would have won! On Mike Trout's intentional walk with first base occupied, Karl Ravech called it the "Bonds treatment."

I'm trying to think how often this actually does happen to players when the pitcher isn't on deck. For that matter, pitchers won't be batting anymore I guess, so every time it happens hereon out will be one of those cases. Sigh.....

This is the first time I've ever been excited about the Rangers rotation. Lynn yesterday, Mike Minor today and Corey Kluber going tomorrow.

So nice this morning to have baseball highlights to watch as I drink my coffee. Sure, no fans...but it’s still baseball.

What an ending to the Angels and A’s game

Damn it feels good to have baseball back

Also, I saw this morning that the opening night games set records for opening day viewership and the Nats/Yanks was the most watched baseball game since 2011. I know it’s the only thing on, but glad people are tuning in...

27 home runs on Opening Day.

The league is led by two Maxes, Muncy and Kepler, with 2 each.

Matt Olson with the walk-off Grand Slam on Opening Day, the first occurence since 1986.

Small data point (and #1 pitchers pitching to boot), but that’s way down from last year’s per game numbers. It will be interesting to see how this trends...

Not even looking at actual per game numbers, just using my spreadsheet with every single home run over the past 2 years, it's 22 fewer home runs than last year's Opening Day.

                    2018- 33
                    2019- 49
                    2020- 27

And Yankees-Nationals was the only game that didn't happen yesterday.

I was happy with the A's win and it was too late but I forgot to mention that I hated the new extra inning rule as much as I thought I would.

The fox broadcast with virtual fans looks cool.

I think it is terrible because they aren't doing it with all cameras. They use the main cameras that don't show the fans and then go to other cameras that show fans. They need to do it all or nothing.

The audio is also too much. I guess at least it is matching what is happening.

It does, but its weird when it goes from a shot without the fans to one that does. Also thought they'd have the fans in the behind the pitcher view. Well, they've got some time to refine it.

The audio's improved too - you can hear muted reactions to away team events.

And also some boos as Javy gets HBP.

I'm sure they'll adjust things accordingly based on viewer feedback and all that. But these crowds do look cooler than video games.

I'm honestly not a fan of the fans! It's kinda weird, lol.

Yeah! Display of virtual fans...then into the game with nobody in the stands. It just made me laugh.
