Are you telling me the Yankees couldn't do that with Correa? Come on.

And I consider that a failure on behalf of Boras. The "chasing money back" stage of Correa's career has started.

If he was willing to sign a 3 year deal with opt outs I wish the Mets would have gone after him. With as much as they shift they could list him at 3b and he’d still be playing SS half the time

Guess they just really wanted IKF....and were willing to pay Donaldson to get him....which helped the Twins sign Correa

With the exception of Freddie Freeman, all of the top free agents signed with teams that did not make the playoffs last year.

With the rumors around Trevor Story, he is likely to break that mold, but still interesting. Going to be a pretty wild season with the extra playoff spot

Not a Corea fan, but I love the Twins actually spending the money saved on Donaldson and not pocketing it. Wish all small to mid level teams would try to compete like this.

The Yankees were originally a fave for Correa when the offseason started. So the Twins dumped Donaldson and his 22m per year contract on the Yankees and signed Correa instead.

Can't complain about that at all.

I wonder if Twins doing that has any impact on Cleveland and rebuilding/dealing Ramirez who they clearly won't be re-signing.

Seems like Ramirez is a mid season move. I find it hard in year 1 of a rebrand that they move him before opening day.

I didn't realize the option next year is a team option.

That's a horrible deal (for Ramirez, but great for Cleveland).

I wonder what his deadline price could be. Higher or the same as now?

Assuming he does Ramirez things in the 1st half, I can’t see how it isn’t the same price. Moreno & Biggio + 2 other notable pieces is what I would expect. Jose Ramirez is so insanely good and versatile that I would consider him a “by all means necessary” asset to acquire if I were a contending GM
