Re: What is your take on the Congress and MLB?
I'm trying to keep up with all the messages here. But one that stuck out was how you guys are blasting a parent for blaming the players. Well you know what, when kids go out and play a sport, they try to immulate their favorite player. We as parents can say "Hey dont do drugs" "Dont cheat or steal", but those kids watch every move these players make.
Its a catch 22, go out and run for that flyball like Torii Hunter, but dont shoot up steroids like McGwire or Bonds. You want kids to copy these stars? with their hustle and dedication? of course. These parents dont want their kids doing these illegal things.............steroids.
Scuffing the ball, spitting on a ball or scuffing it does not compare to shooting a drug that can kill you. By far.Comment

Re: What is your take on the Congress and MLB?
Originally posted by glucklichNever mind role models. Thats such a bogus concept anyway. If the parent tells the kid steroids are dangerous and why, then its on the kid. Its that simple. No role model is needed so they can be blamed. Im 30 and when I was in HS I contemplated using but I didnt because of the risks involved. I cant even remember where I learned about the negative effects but it wasnt the parent(s). Maybe it was school? The point is that even then kids were informed about the stuff and had some basis for making a decision...and that was 10-15 years ago. If kid wants to drive a car off a cliff whos to be blamed for that? And what about drinking and driving? Its OK to make the kids themselves accountable for decisions they make. Its not like you suddenly become an informed adult magically on your 18th birthday, yet some people act like the kid should be off the hook in all situations merely bcause they were 16 or 17 and not yet 18. LOL. Cry me a river.Comment
