2. I don't know what astro-turf you've seen or played on, but it gives truer and much less bad hops than grass/dirt infields. And it isn't even close.

2. Ryne Sandberg looked good mainly because of the infield at Wrigley which was done in such a way as to make fielding a lot easier for the IFs. Alomar's prime years were on turf which takes a toll on the body and can take strange hops.

It's really subjective because it's difficult to compare players of different generations and difficult to rate older players. I've never seen them play, but I'm basing it on things I've read and stats.
