A fantastic career (before the Mets) shadowed by one disgraceful moment.

I would think he'd be first ballot not only because he had great offense for a second baseman, he's one the best defensive second baseman of all time. Also has a ring, if that means any thing to the HOF.

It may have been disgraceful, but if Hirschbeck did what Alomar said he did, I would have spit in his face too.

              What did Hirschbeck do?

I definitely see him making the HOF for sure. I'm not thinking 1st Ballot, but I think he'll eventually get in. A great 2B and I enjoyed watching him play.

I think he should make it for sure, probably even 1st ballot.

This is a guy with a .300 career avg, 10 gold gloves, and 2 World Series rings. He had a terrific career (well, up to '02) and he should be remembered for that, rather than the umpire incident. Besides, both Alomar and Hirschbeck have moved on and now consider each other friends.

I voted for first ballot Hall of Famer. No doubt about it. For those of you that think he is not a first ballot....what would prevent him from being a first ballot HOF'er?
