    Nice line by both pitchers... 2.2 IP, 12 H, 11 R, 4 BB.

Park pitched closer to 2 innings. I hate to see us chewing up the pen so early in the season.

Man, we're gonna need Peavy to pitch lights out tomorrow in the worst way.

Park is a starter even though he pitched last night...He should be able to go at least 5 tonight if needed. This pen is going to hurt us more so this year than in the years past.

Knowing Peavy he'll probably be able to go a CG tomorrow, but I don't see him going more than 7.

It's not that simple. As a starter Park is not accustomed to pitching two days in a row. It's not just a switch you flip and are able to do that effectively.

You know how it will go. Peavy will deal for 7 innings, have a 3-0 lead in the 7th. Bochy will pull him for a pinch hitter, burn up the rest of the bench that inning, and the pen will proceed to give up 5 runs over the next 2 innings.

True, but as a bullpen pitcher you have to have a mindset of that you can go whenever needed. So even though he's a starter he's in the pen and needs that switch flipped over to a reliever.

All we need to do is get to the 7-9 innings....Hensley, Linbrink and Hoffman are the best we have in the Pen.

Yeah Hensley was great last night. It's not like the scenario I posted is one we haven't seen time and time again over the last 3 years.

Poor Hoffman he's not even going to get that many opportunities this year.

                      That's quite easy to say.

Even teams that lost 90 games the closer has a chance to close at least 38 of them. If the Padres don't do well Hoffman probably won't get 43 opportunities and a chance to get Lee Smith's record this season.

                          2 run shot Barmes.

                          This team is a disaster.

If we're getting our brains kicked in by the Rockies and Giants, what is going to happen when we start playing the teams in the NL East and Central?

Clay only gave up 2 runs last night and then Cassidy was the one who got lit up. I still trust Hensley in the 7th inning more so than anyone else we have in the pen right now. Linbrink is the Pads 8th inning guy...if we can even get to him that would be a plus.

                              Only 2 runs?

He gave up 4 hits and 2 runs and didn't record an out.
