Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Papelbon looking horrible tonight. He has no control or command of his fastball at all.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
And he strikes out Hafner with a high-fastball.
Rough outfit for Papelbon, but he got it done.
Very strong outing from Schilling and it really looks like Pedroia is coming around. Not to mention Drew and Manny are getting back in the swing of things.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Nice job by Papelbon after a slow start. Weird play on the strikeout of Blake.
I definitely think they got it right as far as the swing, but they should've had to throw down to 1st. I wonder if there's even a proper rule for that situation.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
I think something is wrong with Papelbon. It's gone from a couple of not so sharp outings to a pattern of poor control and decreased velocity. Manny looks primed to go on a tear though, that's good considering the Yanks series coming up this weekend. Also, Youkilis might be one of the most underrated players in the game right now. He's a really really good hitter and I think the perception of him is still desciplined with a competent bat.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
I think Paps has been fine. In my opinion Tito has kept him out of too many innings fearing his shoulder problems, not that I can blame him. That is probably contributing to a tiny bit of rust. If healthy, Paps will continue to be that dominant closer and strikeout machine.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Papelbon's commad hasn't been there in may outings. I think he has a tendancy to overthrow at times as well. I've never seen a real decrease in velocity aside from that one outing against Oakland where his fastball just didn't have that late burst.
As I type this Youkilis just puts one off the wall to plate Lugo. The guy is on fire.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Beckett looks pretty sharp through the 5th. A couple 1-2-3 innings certainly helps things along too.
Its nice that NESN is showing a kinda Trot Nixon retrospective as well.Boston Red Sox 2004, 2007 World Series Champions
Nomar's homer off Pedro. Those four words just shouldn't go together. Not even on a day like 6/6/6. ~Bill SimmonsComment

14.5 Baby
Becketts 8-0. Great start tonight, especially since he's coming off the DL. This team has been awesome so far. When ever someone is slumping someone else steps up and produces.
I can't wait until Manny and Ortiz both get going at the same time. It seems like Manny is starting to get hot so all we need is for Ortiz to return to the lineup.Comment
