    Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007

Anyone take a look at Clay Buchholz stats lately? He's been flat out dominating AA ball. He has a 5-2 record, 1.82 era, 100 K's, 18 BB's, 74.0 IP.

Some one on SOSH pointed out how unbelievably similiar Josh Beckett and Clays stats are.

Beckett's and Buchholz's AA numbers are extremely similar.

    Buchholz: 74 IP, 49 hits, 18 BB/100 K, 1.82 ERA
    Beckett: 74.1 IP, 50 hits, 19 BB/102 K, 1.82 ERA

Also of note is that this was compiled in the exact same park, team, and league (before it was a Red Sox affiliate).

Difference being Beckett was 19? no? Clay is 22 already.

But that don't really matter. Buchholz looks to be the real deal and he just keeps dealing that nasty ****!

Buchholz has put up some amazing numbers, but just in watching that one televised start about a month ago it was evident he still has a ways to go. He left everything up and seemed to have no idea where his breaking ball was going to go. The movement and changes in velocity on his pitches were enough to make a Double A team look silly, but he would have gotten lit up against an Major League team. Granted, that was only one start but I've read a lot of similar views on him as well.

I hate west coast games, but there is something to be said of waking up to a Sox win.

Great win today. Beckett was able to out-duel Peavey for his 11th win of the season. There's no denying who the ace of this staff is.

Beckett has def matured into the ACE we need him to be. I always said he would, he just needed that year and he would dominate. He grew up and listens to Tek, and he just flat out demolishes teams.

I can't wait to see this staff in a few years...

I have a feeling we will not see Bowden, Delcarmen, Hansen, and maybe even Lester on this Red Sox pitching staff in a couple years. Just a random gut feeling on my part. I'd be most surprised to see Hansen in 2 years with this team. He seems like a flat out bust.

As of right now I don't think they strike fear into any hitter. And I'm not so sure what their future is going to be with this club.

Right now the front office is just hoping they get on a roll at Triple A to give themselves some value so they can be used for trades. I don't think anyone is really expecting to get much out of them at the major league level.

I agree about Hansen, but if he can find his control he will be dominating.

Delcarmen has already been lights out though, apparently nobody else looks at minor league stats.

He hasn't had a K yet in his 3 MLB appearances this year, but he has looked very sharp.

Scores tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 9th. Dice-K pitched great again today, 7K/1BB only allowed 1 run. Lugo still is atrocious, and Manny and Ortiz are hitless this game.

Ichiro is on 2nd with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, Okajima is pitching.

Papelbon comes in with Ichiro on 3rd and Vidro on 1st with 1 out. He got Sexson to pop up and Broussard to ground to Pedroia.

Its awesome having Papelbon. I remember a few years ago when we had a closer by committee and you never new who was going to pitch or how they were going to pitch. But with Papelbon you can feel confident when he comes into a game because you know he's not afraid to be in those types of situations.

After seeing Julio Lugo attempt to steal third with two outs in a one-run game with Youk at the plate I am now convinced he is just trying to suck.

That was the stupidest play I think I have seen all year. Why would he not slide? I think mentally right now Lugo is really feeling the pressure and he might not be cut out for Boston. Hopefully after the All-Star break he can turn it around.

This team has had some bad luck with bringing in shortstops. I still think we should have kept Cabrera after we won the World Series. He played solide defense and hit the ball better then Gonzalez did last year.

And anyone suprised to see Ellsbury playing centerfield last night? I turned on the game during the 4th inning and I was very suprised to see him on our team. I wonder if this is a sign that Coco might be hurt more than what their saying.

Well they showed Coco in the dugout, and he had a cast on his hand. Couldn't tell if it was a soft or hard cast, but it was def there.

Does anyone have the video of the national anthem last night? LOL
