He is incredibly entertaining when you go to a game and sit out there by the monster. You just get to see him standing around aimlessly as someone is pitching, drinking from his water bottle, adjusting his pants or hat, or - and the best - watch him disappear into the green monster and have the game pause for a few minutes when he refuses to come back out.

As I type this Youkilis just puts one off the wall to plate Lugo. The guy is on fire.
Not sure... his pitch selection has changed quite a bit since the beginning of last season... Whereas first few months of last season, we'd see the splitter almost exclusively as the "out"pitch, he seems to be using the fastball more and more. It's almost as if he's still in starter-mode.

Don't know what to attribute it to. Varitek knows his stuff better than anyone, so maybe he's still managing the shoulder or perhaps it's just a confidence issue. But there definitely seems to be a change in the pitches...

Good bounce back outing. Schilling looked horrible after the delay, though I don't know how much of that can be blamed on the delay but his fastball velocity was down afterwards. Huge game for Mike Lowell and just a good team effort out there. It sets up a rubber match of aces tomorrow night, should be a good one.

Pedroia coming through huge with a bases clearing double.

Go from being 4-0 to up 5-4 in one inning. Me likey.

Yep, now Becketts in position to go 9-0. Hopefully they can score a few more insurance runs.

I just realized how bad the scheduling is for the BoSox this week. After this game they have to fly cross country to play the A's on Mon. night. Tough draw IMO.

Yah I cant imagine they were too happy about this being an ESPN game. At least they gain 3 hours on the flight. Still a tough commute though.

That's freakin' ridiculous. By the time they get out here, it'll be around 4, 5am our time. Yikes. Especially if there's a rain delay at the airport.

How did Ortiz' shot not tie it up? Damn he crushed it.

Yah, I think he just needed to get under it a little more. I was more surprised that Abreu caught Pedroia's line drive, which would've easily scored 2. He was terrible this series but somehow reached out and found that one.

This team is probably so tired. They played on Sunday night, got on a plane and flew across the country, then played a game last night that went into extra innings. Pretty tough stretch. Their next day off is Monday, hopefully can keep on winning and not go into a little slump.

So uhh...yeah. What the hell happened here? I could have sworn the calendar read August 2006 when watching this A's series. This team looks REALLY bad right now.

I am having bad flashbacks to the 2002 Sox here..

The pitching has been decent, but apparently they lost their bats on the flight out. 6 runs in 3 games? Ugh. I've given up on Crisp as a hitter, but it's time for Lugo and Drew to start carrying their weight.

Ortiz finally went deep and Schilling almost had a no-no. They needed that W badly.
