I hope the strike zone is as big for Beckett as it was for Roger in the 1st

Does JD Drew know that he can actually swing the bat before he gets two strikes? I swear to god he doesn't swing unless there are two strikes.

          no kidding

and the strike zone for Roger and Mo was a little crazy.

Only thing about a call like that is...

If you're going to have a rule saying the runner can't "go three feet away from the basepath"...you need a pretty clear-cut definition of what the basepath actually is. Youkilis got by A-Rod while still remaining on the dirt, his foot hit the grass once a-rod no longer had a play (because he clearly did have a chance to tag Youkilis, Youk bent his body and avoided the actual tag)...

P.S...that was a dumb play by A-Rod overall. He was obviously trying to go for the triple play from the start, but in a situation like that you have to go for the 5-4-3 double play.

^your expecting A-Rod to make a smart play?

All we had to do was win 1....our offense has looked pathetic. Schilling had a great outing, should have come back out for the 8th. They send Beckett out last night, but not Schill....wtf?

they needed the sweep more than we needed to avoid one

                    still not worried
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

Anyone see the whole...uniform check on Terry and his comments about it?

Just saw it on the First Report thing on ESPN.

Damn, don't usually see Terry upset after a game like that. At least the MLB admitted they were in the wrong.

More evidence that the MLB has its priorities horribly out of whack.

Wakefield has lower back pain, so he's not pitching tonight.

                            The runner defines his basepath.

Since he started from well on the outfield side (based on a straight line from second base to third) and ended up stepping on the infield grass, that was WAY beyond moving three feet to avoid a tag. That should have been an easy, near-automatic call.

Talk about laying an egg at home. I don't think that's how Timlin envisioned his 1000th game going. This lineup is terrible right now, hopefully some of the Sept 1st guys make an impact.

What a pitching performance. That curve was nasty.
