Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Only thing about a call like that is...
If you're going to have a rule saying the runner can't "go three feet away from the basepath"...you need a pretty clear-cut definition of what the basepath actually is. Youkilis got by A-Rod while still remaining on the dirt, his foot hit the grass once a-rod no longer had a play (because he clearly did have a chance to tag Youkilis, Youk bent his body and avoided the actual tag)...
P.S...that was a dumb play by A-Rod overall. He was obviously trying to go for the triple play from the start, but in a situation like that you have to go for the 5-4-3 double play.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Anyone see the whole...uniform check on Terry and his comments about it?
Just saw it on the First Report thing on ESPN.
Damn, don't usually see Terry upset after a game like that. At least the MLB admitted they were in the wrong.Comment

Since he started from well on the outfield side (based on a straight line from second base to third) and ended up stepping on the infield grass, that was WAY beyond moving three feet to avoid a tag. That should have been an easy, near-automatic call.Comment
