    Red Sox win 4-1

Papelbon goes one inning and strikes out two and saves Dice-Ks first major league win.

I think that Dice-K will be as good as advertised if todays outing is what we should expect from him.

      Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007

Matsuzaka looked awesome yesterday. I think it is safe to say he's going to be one of those guys you plan around so that you can watch each of his starts. I was just really impressed with his command on all of his pitches. Some say the change-up is his best and he hardly threw it yesterday. I wonder if the weather played a role in that. Needless to say, I can't wait for his Fenway debut.

Today's game, however, was abysmal. Wake pitched very effectively in a place that is normally a house of horrors for him and yet the lineup only managed two hits off of Tejeda. That was the most unimpressive outing I've seen from a pitcher who didn't allow a run. He threw mostly fastballs, high in the zone in the low 90's with little to no movement and yet no one could touch him. Crisp was the only one to get a solid hit off of him lining a double over the left fielder. Everyone else seemed content to swing at the first pitch and pop out.

My reactions to the 07 team 4 games into the season:
-Pedroia has a really really quick bat, and aside from today's error, looks good around the bag.
-Beckett's changeup and 2 seam fastball already look much better than they did last year.
-Snyder looks like he may surprise out of the pen this year.
-Crisp looks lost at the plate, though two doubles in two days might mean he's coming out of it.
-Okajima has given up one run in two appearances, but there have been a lot of hard-hit outs and his command looks shakey.
-Ortiz doesn't look locked in right now, and this offense really suffers when he isn't hitting the ball.
-Drew brings a good presense to this lineup since after him everyone is a free-swinger. His range in right is better than I thought.
      -Papelbon is still the man.

Ortiz just got his first homerun of the season. Joe Morgan insists it's because Ortiz is on Sunday Night Baseball... I miss Jerry and Don already.

Ortiz hit his second homerun of the game, maybe Sunday Night Baseball does have something to do with it . Manny almost makes it back to back homeruns but he sent Lofton to straight away center warning track.

The Papi/Schilling show is out in full force tonight. With Paps just waiting, I couldn't feel more confident. Hopefully they can close this thing out.

Pinero just almost gave me a heart attack but the kid came in and got a big K and pop up to finish the 8th... HUGE, let see one of the big bats get us at least another run here in the 9th

I love Papelbon. Piniero comes in the 8th can't get anything done, gives up 1 run. Then Papelbon comes in with 1 out in the 8th, runners on the corners and strikes out Texiera and then gets the next guy to pop up.

I wish he could pitch every single day and didn't get tired becuase he is that good.

5 pitches later, we're safe and Papelbon is rearing to go for the 9th. This kid is priceless.

It was great. Everybody in the house knew he was going with the heat vs Sammy and he never had a chance. I was watching it with two of my buddies and we were all just laughing. Paps is the man.

Anyone else love when Papelbon is pitching? Their is just something about him when he's in that makes him awesome to watch. I wish last nights game was in Fenway because the place would have exploded.

Can't wait for opening day tommorow.
