Without looking at the numbers myself, I think that's a good call. If Prospectus brings you up as a joke in one of their books, there's a good chance your OBP is downright disgusting and you're not producing in any category!

Womack was never an everyday player on the Yanks. He was brought there the same year Cano was called up. Cano played 122 games at 2B in '05, Womack's lone year in the Bronx. Womack only started 25 games at any position for the Yanks, almost all of them were in April before Cano got the call.

Watching the game briefly last night, I noticed that Schilling's delivery looked really off. His windup appeared very rigid, as if he was unable to push off his right leg. When he creates that big winding motion he generates his most power.

Anyways, that observation combined with the post game quotes lead me to believe Schilling is going to be DL'ed in the next few days. Some kind of leg injury, maybe a muscle, possibly a knee, and hopefully not that same ankle tendon that ruptured on him in 2004. I would not at all be surprised to see him come out and say something happened during that 1 hit CG vs. Oakland.

Regardless, I would expect to see Lester pitching in place of Schilling's next start.

            Schilling in for an MRI:

            Schill to have MRI
            By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff

Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling left the team and went back to Boston today to meet with Red Sox team doctor Thomas Gill and have a precautionary MRI on his shoulder.

According to multiple reports, the Sox will be looking at his right (pitching) shoulder.
Could be the shoulder. This is potentially very, very bad news.

If Coco had just a half decent throwing arm I'd say he's a lock for a gold glove right now.

                Schill on the DL...

My bet is that Lester gets the call and pitches Tuesday.

This isn't such a bad thing, imo. It might give us a chance to see Lester and it doesn't hurt to have a rested and healthy Schilling if there really is no damage.

I agree. I want to see what Lester can do. I'm not convinced Schilling is worth 13 million in 2008. If Lester can show something in 2007 that leads me to believe he can be a third starter in 2008 I wouldn't be against letting Schilling walk away. And with the way Schilling has pitched thus far this year, he might reconsider his decision to pitch next year anyways.

This box score tells alot about Julio Lugo. Even Hinske had a hit and he only had 1 AB.

Lugo had a hit... unlucky that Tek had to hold up and couldn't run to thrid fast enough. He had one drop in though.

Tavarez pitched great tonight. He only gave up 3 hits and 0 runs. Pretty impressive fora fifth starter.

Anyone think Drew wanted to get an extended day off tommorow so he decided to call it a night and say his quad was tightening up?
