I bet had Nady been traded in 2003 instead of Bay, Nady would've turned out quite a player by now because he'd be forced to play everyday with the Pirates. I still hate how prospects were managed the past couple of years (fortunately for Greene, Rey Ordonez decided to chicken-out midway through ST 2004.)

Anyways, here's my shot at the final roster:

    Lineup:

    2B Marcus Giles R
    RF Brian Giles L
    1B Adrian Gonzalez L
    C Josh Bard S
    CF Mike Cameron R
    LF Terrmel Sledge L
    3B Kevin Kouzmanoff R
SS Khalil Greene R (I don't care how good of a Spring he's having, he has 0 walks to 10 K's).

    Bench:
    C Rob Bowen S
    IF Geoff Blum S
    CIF/COF Russell Branyan L
    OF Jose Cruz Jr. S
    OF Paul McAnulty L

    Rotation:
    Jake Peavy
    Chris Young
    Clay Hensley
Greg Maddux (Will switch with Hensley after Home Opener)
    David Wells

    Bullpen:
    Trevor Hoffman
    Cla Meredith
    Scott Linebrink
    Heath Bell
    Doug Brocail
    Kevin Cameron
    Mike Thompson

*I would prefer to keep Andrew Brown over Doug Brocail since Brown has better stuff.

Lineup could be better as well as backup catcher. I just show hope Bard doesn't fizzle hitting clean up.
I think Brown will be up soon. He does have better stuff than Brocail. But Brocail at this point does a better job of getting people out. Cameron's the rule 5 guy right?

Still not enamored with this lineup. Just wish it had a little bit more speed and a little bit more pop from the right side of the plate.

If the rotation stays fairly healthy, and Linebrink and Meredith return to form, I'd take our pitching staff up against anyone's.

Such a bargain at $9.5 million for 4 years. I'm glad the Padres got him signed to an extension after all that crap about him being signed to close-to-league minimum for this season.

Opening day. I'm rooting for Peavy and Bard since I have both of them in the majority of my fantasy leagues.

Yeah, Kevin Cameron is a rule 5 guy out of the Twins farm system.

I would be happy to have the Giles brothers bat 2 and 3, a right-handed power bat cleanup, Adrian hitting 5th, and someone with speed at leadoff. I know Dave Roberts has been riddled with injuries throughout his career outside the past two years with the Padres, but we need a table-setter like that in a ballpark like this and I wouldn't mind having him come back considering we ended up trading Barfield for Kouzmanoff. Like I said before, I think the lineup can be better.

          BTW, today's lineup vs. Zito:

          2B Giles R
          RF Giles L
          CF Cameron R
          1B Gonzalez L
          C Bard S
          SS Greene R
          3B Kouzmanoff R
          LF Cruz Jr. S
          SP Peavy R

So far so good with not striking out, but they gotta make Zito work a little bit.

              Peavy's thrown 52 through 3 innings.

nice job by Adrian with a productive out, moving the runner over and giving someone a shot to cash in and Bard does that....2-0 Padres.
