Maybe SCEA Sports was right to give Bard such a ridiculously high rating.

Bard is 4-5...with RBI...hopefully this can continue...but, this how the padres should play it doesn't always have to be about "POWER"....The team is built for Doubles and I am happy Bud Black has taken the aggressive approach at the plate, as well as on the bases.

      4 Doubles, 1 Triple...7 Runs

Nice opening day for the friars and Peavy pitching like an ace.

      Peavy: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K

Oppsss. It's only one game but nice to see a shut out. I really dislike the Giants and San Fransisco. 1st shut out on opening day in Padres history. Great job Padres

Good win coupled with a Dodger loss and hopefully a win by Colorado to split with Arizona.

Hopefully, that will be the Padres' only lead in the division the entire year.

It won't be. There will be a ton of lead changes this year.

I disagree. LA and SD are the class of the division, simply because both are a little deeper and have better pitching. After them, I'd draw the line.

IMO, SF lacks any youth and depth, Colorado has suspect pitching, and Arizona is a year away.

I'm fine with the aggresive approach at the plate, but good God Marcus, take a pitch or two. Zito started out 1-0 on him twice and both times he went hacking at the 2nd pitch. Move Brian to the leadoff spot and let Marcus hit #2. Big Brother is a walk machine.

                      Re: San Diego Padres 2007

Today Chris Young vs. Matt Cain.

Chris Young last year had tremendous numbers pitching away from Petco Park and Matt Cain had success against the Padres last year.

I won't be around to post today's lineup, but gameday or watching/listening to the game should do the trick. Probably gonna go like this:

                      2B Giles R
                      RF Giles L
                      1B Gonzalez L
                      C Bard S
                      CF Cameron R
                      SS Greene R
                      3B Kouzmanoff R
                      LF Sledge L
                      P Young R

                        Re: San Diego Padres 2007

We're losing 2-0 through 3 innings. Bonds homered can just as I expected from the match up numbers, Cain is stifling the Padres so far.

Tied so far. Some clutch pitching by Young and the Cla so far. Both got out of bases loaded jams with either avoiding a run or allowing only one to score.

                            Good game so far.

I don't know about the first 3 - 4 innings but it sure has become an exciting game.

We finally got more than two runs against Cain. That counts for something.

Good outing by Cla. Outside of a pitch around, 4 outs, no runs, and a K.
