Re: San Diego Padres 2007
I managed to catch the game in the fourth. A rarity for me to be able to see them on TV.
Still, it was Jason Schmidt, someone they've owned since 2004. Once Mark Hendrickson came in the offense was shut down.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
For whatever reason, they just hammer Schmidt. The frustrating part is they'll kill Schmidt, and then someone like Josh Fogg will come in to town and dominate them for 8 innings.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
On another note, the Padres pitchers need to do a better job holding the runner at first... or at least give the catcher a chance to throw out a would-be basestealer.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Is it just me, or does it seems like just about every game, when teams are stealing a base on the Padres, the runner is at the base, almost before the catcher even has a chance to throw it.Comment

Stealing on the Padres is like shooting fish in a barrel.I write things on the Internet.

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
It's not that hard. It's more like fishing for fish in barrell, using dynamite.
I think it was Furcal, who stole second, and had begun his slide just as Bowen was releasing the ball.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
The pitchers definitely need to work on it, especially in a division with Furcal, Pierre, Taveras, Young, Roberts, and Vizquel.
Even Luis Gonzalez had a stolen base. Embarrassing.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
It's not just you. Last year the excuse was because of Mike Piazza. However he barely played in more than half the games and it was cleverly disguised behind the fact that he was on the team.

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Both him and Darren Balsley should be called out for that. It's inexcusable to have 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts in 12 games in the modern era of baseball.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
I believe the 1 CS, wasn't thrown out from the catcher, but was actually a runner picked off by a pitcher.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
I wish Clay would stop being stubborn and go on the DL and rest up that blister. He should already know pitching through injury never works. Just look at Peavy last season, or the linger problems Josh Beckett has had with blisters.Comment

Is Carillo ever going to join the big club? What's his status, or is he hurt, or did they move him?Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Also another thing, the stolen bases aren't strictly on the catchers...look at the pitchers...they are stealing off of the pitchers.
They steal off of Maddux the minute his leg goes up thats why the runners get to second before the ball is ever there.
Also Hensley does need to go on the DL or something because he isn't helping his cause
Padres are up todays game against the Cubs..3-1, RBI Single Marcus GilesThe DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show
